E-3 Visa UI UX Designer Jobs
UI UX Designer roles in the U.S. qualify as E-3 specialty occupations when the position requires a bachelor's degree in design, human-computer interaction, or a related field. Australian designers can secure E-3 visa sponsorship without competing in the H-1B lottery, making U.S. roles at product companies and agencies genuinely accessible.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as an UI UX Designer
Frame your portfolio for U.S. hiring standards
U.S. hiring managers expect case studies that document your design process end-to-end, not just final screens. Structure each portfolio piece around problem definition, research methods, iteration, and measurable outcomes to align with what product teams evaluate.
Target companies with existing E-3 filing history
Employers who have filed Labor Condition Applications for design roles before already understand the process and are far less likely to stall at the sponsorship conversation. Search DOL LCA disclosure data by SOC code 15-1255 to identify active E-3 sponsors in your target market.
Lead with the LCA timeline in employer conversations
When an offer is imminent, tell your employer the Labor Condition Application can certify within seven business days through the DOL FLAG system. Removing timeline uncertainty is the fastest way to keep a sponsoring employer confident and moving forward.
Verify your degree field maps to the role
A degree in graphic design or visual communication may not satisfy the specialty occupation requirement for a UX research-heavy role. If your qualification is adjacent, gather documentation showing coursework in human-computer interaction, cognitive psychology, or information architecture before your consulate interview.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service for the LCA and consulate prep
Once you have a job offer, use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA and visa paperwork end-to-end. This avoids the coordination errors that occur when employers try to manage DOL and consulate requirements without dedicated support.
Clarify remote and hybrid work locations before filing
The LCA must list the actual worksite address where you'll perform work. If your role is hybrid across multiple offices, USCIS and DOL require each location to be covered. Confirm the final work arrangement in writing before your employer submits the LCA to avoid refiling.

Find UI UX Designer JobsUI UX Designer E-3 Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find UI UX Designer jobs that offer E-3 visa sponsorship?
Search on Migrate Mate, which filters jobs by employers willing to sponsor the E-3 visa specifically. Because the E-3 requires an employer to file a Labor Condition Application, many general job boards don't distinguish E-3-ready employers from those who only sponsor H-1B. Migrate Mate surfaces roles where sponsorship is already part of the hiring process.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a UI UX Designer role qualify as an E-3 specialty occupation?
Yes, provided the position requires at minimum a bachelor's degree in a directly related field such as interaction design, human-computer interaction, or graphic design. Roles that accept any degree, or that list a degree as preferred rather than required, risk failing the specialty occupation test. The job offer letter and any internal job description should state the degree requirement explicitly.
How does the E-3 visa compare to the H-1B for UI UX Designers?
The E-3 has a 10,500 annual allocation that has never been fully used, meaning there is no lottery and no randomised selection. H-1B registrations for design roles compete in an oversubscribed lottery with roughly a 25 percent selection rate. For Australian designers, the E-3 offers a direct, predictable path to U.S. employment that the H-1B cannot reliably provide.
Can I change employers or go freelance while on an E-3?
You can change employers, but each new employer must file a fresh Labor Condition Application before you begin work. You cannot freelance or work as an independent contractor on an E-3 because the visa requires a direct employer-employee relationship with the sponsoring company. Contract-to-hire arrangements are acceptable only if the contracting firm, not the end client, is your legal employer of record.
