Translate your Australian sales credentials precisely
U.S. hiring managers may not recognize Australian qualifications by name. Frame your bachelor's degree field and any industry certifications in terms that map directly to the role's specialty occupation requirement the E-3 demands.
Target employers with established LCA filing history
Search DOL's OFLC disclosure data for companies that have filed Labor Condition Applications for sales roles. Employers who've run the process before move faster and make fewer mistakes on your E-3 paperwork.
Clarify the specialty occupation case before accepting an offer
Field sales roles vary widely. Before signing, confirm your prospective employer can document that the position requires a specific bachelor's degree, not just any degree. A generic 'degree preferred' job description can derail your E-3 application at the consulate.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service for the full process
Once you have an offer, the LCA, DS-160, and consulate preparation all run in parallel. Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service manages the entire process from offer to consulate appointment, reducing delays that can push back your start date.
Prepare for consular scrutiny on commission-based compensation
If your role includes variable commission, ensure your offer letter states a base salary that meets the DOL prevailing wage for the SOC code your employer filed under. Consular officers review wage compliance as part of E-3 adjudication.
Plan your renewal timeline around territory transitions
E-3 renewals require a still-valid LCA tied to your current role and employer. If you're promoted or your territory changes materially, USCIS may treat it as a new position, requiring a fresh LCA before your next renewal.
E-3 Visa Field Sales Consultant: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Field Sales Consultant jobs that offer E-3 visa sponsorship?
Most job postings don't advertise E-3 sponsorship by name because employers often conflate it with H-1B visa. Migrate Mate surfaces companies with active LCA filing history for sales roles, so you can focus outreach on employers who already understand the process. Searching by role and filtering for E-3-compatible employers saves significant time compared to cold applications.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Field Sales Consultant role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
It depends on how the position is defined. The E-3 requires the role to normally require a specific bachelor's degree. A consultative B2B sales role tied to a technical product or industry, such as software, medical devices, or financial services, is more defensible than a general territory sales role. Your employer's job description and internal classification both matter at the consulate interview.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for Field Sales Consultant roles?
The E-3 has no annual lottery and no cap that would prevent you from starting on a specific date, which makes it far more predictable for sales hiring timelines. H-1B registration opens once a year and selection is random, meaning an offer made in April might not result in a start until October the following year, if at all. For Australian nationals, the E-3 is the more reliable path.
Can I change employers or territories on an E-3 while staying in sales?
Changing employers requires your new employer to file a fresh LCA and you to obtain a new E-3 visa stamp at a consulate before starting. A significant change in role scope or reporting structure with the same employer may also require a new LCA. Internal promotions that keep you in a substantially similar sales function typically don't trigger a new filing, but confirm this with your employer's HR team before any transition.
