Frame your Australian credentials for U.S. roles
A three-year Australian bachelor's degree is generally accepted as equivalent to a U.S. four-year degree for E-3 visa purposes. Pair your academic transcripts with a credential evaluation to remove any ambiguity during the employer's HR screening process.
Target enterprise software and SaaS employers first
Companies running large, distributed U.S. sales organizations file LCAs regularly and have HR teams familiar with E-3 sponsorship. Prioritize roles where the job description explicitly requires a degree in business or a related discipline, which anchors your specialty occupation case.
Address E-3 logistics before salary negotiation closes
Once you have verbal interest, confirm the employer will file an LCA with DOL before you finalize your offer. Directors sometimes lose offers because sponsorship conversations start after the contract is drafted, compressing the LCA certification window.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service for the LCA and visa paperwork
Enterprise-level offers often include complex compensation structures with base, commission, and equity. Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service ensures your LCA accurately reflects prevailing wage requirements under DOL rules, reducing the risk of a deficiency notice delaying your start date.
Confirm your employer's E-Verify status early
If your new employer operates under federal contracts, they may be required to use E-Verify. Confirming this before your visa interview prevents post-arrival onboarding delays and ensures the employment documentation you bring to the consulate aligns with their verification process.
Plan your consulate appointment around your handover timeline
E-3 consular processing in Sydney, Melbourne, or Perth typically runs two to four weeks. Build that window into your resignation and start-date negotiation so you're not asking a new employer to push back a director-level onboarding because of a scheduling gap.
E-3 Visa Enterprise Sales Director: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Enterprise Sales Director jobs that offer E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate lets you search specifically for Enterprise Sales Director roles at U.S. employers with E-3 sponsorship history. Standard job searches don't filter by visa type, so you end up screening dozens of roles manually. Migrate Mate surfaces employers already familiar with the E-3 process, which shortens your search and reduces the risk of late-stage sponsorship refusals.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does an Enterprise Sales Director role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
Yes, provided the role requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific field such as business administration, marketing, or sales management. The key is that the degree requirement must be tied to the position, not just preferred. Roles where any degree qualifies regardless of field can face scrutiny, so a well-documented job description strengthens your case significantly.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for an Enterprise Sales Director role?
The E-3 has no lottery and no annual cap, so you can apply at any point during the year and expect a decision based on eligibility alone. The H-1B visa is subject to an oversubscribed lottery, meaning qualified candidates are frequently not selected. For Australian nationals in senior sales leadership, the E-3 is a faster and more predictable path to a U.S. work authorization.
Can I change employers or get promoted while on an E-3 as a sales director?
You can change employers, but your new employer must file a fresh LCA with DOL and you'll need to obtain a new E-3 visa stamp before re-entering the U.S. or complete a change of status domestically. A promotion to a materially different role may also require a new LCA if your job duties or compensation structure changes significantly. Starting that process before your current E-3 expires avoids any gap in authorized employment.
