Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as a Senior Director Of Business Development
Translate your Australian credentials for U.S. employers
Your Australian three-year bachelor's degree is generally accepted as equivalent to a U.S. four-year degree for E-3 specialty occupation purposes. Prepare a credential evaluation letter to give hiring managers and legal teams confidence before they commit to sponsorship.
Target companies with established LCA filing history
Search the DOL's Office of Foreign Labor Certification disclosure data for employers who have filed Labor Condition Applications for business development or strategy roles. Past LCA filings signal an internal process already exists, which shortens your path to an offer.
Position sponsorship as a low-friction ask
Senior Director roles often involve budget authority, so frame E-3 sponsorship in business terms: no lottery risk, no six-month wait, and indefinitely renewable as long as employment continues. Employers unfamiliar with the E-3 respond better to process clarity than visa terminology.
Clarify specialty occupation status before accepting an offer
Business development titles can span highly strategic roles and general sales management. Confirm that the job description specifies a bachelor's degree in a directly related field, not just any degree, so the LCA and visa application aren't challenged on specialty occupation grounds.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service after your offer is signed
Once you have a written offer, use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA and visa paperwork end-to-end, from DOL submission through consulate preparation. This is especially useful when your new employer hasn't sponsored an E-3 before.
Book your consulate appointment immediately after LCA certification
DOL typically certifies an LCA within seven business days. Schedule your U.S. consulate appointment in Australia as soon as certification comes through, since appointment availability at Sydney, Melbourne, and Perth varies significantly by season and can add weeks to your start date.

Find Senior Director Of Business Development JobsSenior Director Of Business Development E-3 Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Senior Director of Business Development jobs with E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for Australian professionals searching for U.S. roles with E-3 sponsorship. You can filter by job title, location, and sponsorship willingness, which removes the manual work of screening hundreds of listings for employers open to the E-3 process. Starting your search there saves significant time compared to generic job platforms.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Senior Director of Business Development role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
Yes, provided the role requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific field such as business administration, marketing, international business, or a related discipline. The job description must tie the degree requirement directly to the duties performed. Broad titles that accept any degree, regardless of field, can create problems at the LCA stage, so reviewing the offer language carefully matters.
How does the E-3 visa compare to the H-1B for a Senior Director of Business Development role?
The E-3 is available only to Australian citizens and has no lottery, no annual cap backlog, and allows two-year renewable status with the same employer or a new one. The H-1B requires entering a lottery with roughly a 25% selection rate and a wait of up to a year before work authorization begins. For a senior hire where timing matters, the E-3 is structurally faster and more predictable.
Can I change employers or negotiate a promotion while on E-3 status?
Yes to both, with conditions. Changing employers requires a new LCA and a new visa application before you start with the new company, so plan for a processing window of several weeks. A promotion that significantly changes your job duties or title may also require an amended LCA to keep your status current and defensible, even with the same employer.
