Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as a Vice President Of Finance
Verify your degree meets specialty occupation
USCIS requires your bachelor's degree field to align directly with VP of Finance duties. An accounting or economics degree qualifies cleanly. A business administration degree can work, but expect your employer to document why a specific financial discipline is required.
Target CFO-track employers over generalist hirers
Companies actively building out their finance leadership are far more likely to sponsor E-3 visas than those filling one-off VP gaps. Look for organizations with recent Series B or C funding, active M&A activity, or publicly listed finance leadership openings across multiple levels.
Secure your LCA before negotiating your start date
Your employer must file the Labor Condition Application with DOL and receive certification before you can attend your consulate appointment. Build at least two to three weeks into your start date timeline to allow for LCA processing and consulate scheduling.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service for LCA and visa paperwork
VP of Finance roles often involve complex compensation structures with bonuses and equity. Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to ensure your LCA accurately reflects total compensation in a way that satisfies DOL's prevailing wage requirements without delaying certification.
Prepare a degree equivalency letter from a credential evaluator
Australian bachelor's degrees are three years, not four. Some U.S. consular officers will request evidence that your qualification meets the U.S. four-year bachelor's standard. A credential evaluation from a NACES-member organization resolves this before your interview.
Disclose E-3 eligibility early in offer negotiations
Finance executives are often hired through retained search firms whose recruiters assume H-1B complexity. Clarifying your E-3 status upfront, no lottery, no cap, shorter lead time, removes a common hiring hesitation before it becomes a reason to deprioritize your candidacy.

Find Vice President Of Finance JobsVice President Of Finance E-3 Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Vice President of Finance jobs that offer E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is the most direct way to search for VP of Finance roles where employers are open to E-3 sponsorship. Most general job boards don't filter by visa type, which means you're applying blind. Migrate Mate surfaces roles from employers with E-3 and LCA filing history, so you're targeting companies that already understand the process.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a VP of Finance role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3 visa?
Yes. USCIS treats VP of Finance positions as specialty occupations because the role typically requires at least a bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, or a related field. The degree must be directly tied to the job duties. If the position description is broad enough that any business degree qualifies, your employer may need to document the specific financial expertise required.
How does the E-3 visa compare to the H-1B for a VP of Finance hire?
The E-3 has no lottery and no annual cap, which makes it far more predictable for executive-level hiring. An H-1B requires registration in April with only a roughly one-in-four chance of selection, then a wait until October 1 to start work. The E-3 allows you to start as soon as your LCA is certified and your consulate appointment is complete, often within four to six weeks of receiving an offer.
What happens to my E-3 status if I'm promoted or my title changes after I arrive?
A material change in your job duties, title, or employer location typically requires a new LCA filing and may require an amended E-3 visa. A promotion from VP to CFO, for example, likely constitutes a material change. Your employer should file an updated LCA with DOL before the change takes effect to keep your status compliant and avoid gaps in authorization.
