Education And Training Jobs in California: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a education and training in California?
The path depends on your specific role. For K-12 and adult education positions, the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing issues the required credential, typically following a bachelor's degree and a state-approved teacher preparation program. For corporate or workforce training roles, no state license is required, but employers expect a degree in education, instructional design, or a related field, often combined with a professional certificate such as ATD's Certified Professional in Talent Development.
Which companies hire education and trainings in California?
Employers hiring education and trainings in California right now include Education for Change, California State University, and Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. California's concentration of large technology companies, major healthcare systems, and the nation's biggest public school and community college networks creates consistent demand for education and training professionals statewide.
Which California cities have the most education and training jobs?
Oakland, Channel Islands, and La Verne have the most education and training openings in California. Los Angeles leads because of the sheer size of the LA Unified School District and a dense cluster of corporate headquarters with active L&D teams, while San Francisco and San Diego benefit from major technology employers and large university and community college systems anchoring steady hiring.
Are there remote education and training jobs in California?
Yes, and more than many fields. About 0% of education and training openings tied to California are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting how much of the role's design, curriculum writing, and virtual facilitation work can be done off-site. Instructional design and e-learning development positions are the most consistently remote, while roles that involve in-person classroom instruction or hands-on workforce training typically require on-site presence.
How can I get hired as a education and training in California with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through a paraprofessional or instructional aide role in a California school district, which requires only a high school diploma and some college units under Title I guidelines and provides direct classroom exposure. Larger community college districts such as Los Angeles Community College District and San Diego Community College District post entry-level curriculum and tutoring coordinator positions that welcome recent graduates. On the corporate side, transitioning from a subject-matter expert or team lead role into a training specialist position is common, especially when paired with an ATD or SHRM learning certificate.
