Electrical Engineer Jobs in Orlando: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an electrical engineer job in Orlando?
Focus your search on Orlando's three dominant hiring sectors: aerospace and defense contractors clustered near the Central Florida Research Park, utilities and power infrastructure firms tied to Duke Energy's regional operations, and theme park and entertainment engineering teams at the major resort campuses. Candidates with hands-on power systems, controls, or RF experience stand out locally. Attending IEEE Orlando section events and connecting directly with employers in the Lake Nona and Maitland corridors gives you a clear edge over remote applicants.
Which companies hire electrical engineers in Orlando?
Orlando electrical engineer roles are posted by Lockheed Martin, Leidos, and Kimley-Horn and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. The local market includes a mix of large defense contractors, utility providers, and engineering services firms that support the region's aerospace, hospitality infrastructure, and public sector projects.
Are there remote electrical engineer jobs in Orlando?
Yes, though with limits, since electrical engineering work is often hands-on and site-dependent, remote roles tend to be concentrated in design, modeling, and systems analysis rather than field or installation work. About 31% of electrical engineer openings tied to Orlando are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting demand from defense and tech firms that allow off-site design work. Hybrid arrangements are most common for roles focused on CAD design, power systems modeling, or project management.
How can I get an electrical engineer job in Orlando with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Orlando is through co-op or new-grad programs at defense and aerospace contractors in the Central Florida Research Park, where firms regularly pipeline UCF and Florida Tech graduates into junior roles. Entry-level positions in facilities engineering at the major resort campuses also hire candidates with associate degrees or relevant internships. Building proficiency in AutoCAD, ETAP, or NI LabVIEW and pursuing an Engineer Intern designation strengthens any application in this market.
Which industries hire the most electrical engineers in Orlando?
Orlando electrical engineer roles concentrate in Consulting & Professional Services, Construction & Real Estate, and Technology & Software, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Orlando's status as a major defense simulation hub, its large-scale resort and stadium infrastructure, and its growing medical device corridor in Lake Nona all sustain consistent demand for electrical engineering talent across these sectors.
