Electrical Engineer Jobs in Atlanta: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a electrical engineer job in Atlanta?
Focus on sectors that drive Atlanta's electrical engineering market: energy and utilities, defense and aerospace, transportation infrastructure, and commercial construction. Georgia Power, MARTA expansion projects, and the area's growing data center corridor around Lithia Springs and Douglasville all create consistent openings. Candidates with power systems experience or a Professional Engineer license stand out, and networking through IEEE Atlanta's local chapter gives a real edge over cold applications.
Which companies hire electrical engineers in Atlanta?
Employers hiring electrical engineers in Atlanta right now include WSP, CRB, and HDR, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Atlanta's hiring mix pulls from investor-owned utilities, federal defense contractors with offices along the I-285 perimeter, and engineering and construction firms tied to the region's infrastructure and transit build-out.
Are there remote electrical engineer jobs in Atlanta?
Yes, but with limits: electrical engineering is largely hands-on work, so fully remote roles are uncommon compared to purely desk-based fields. About 14% of electrical engineer openings tied to Atlanta are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting that most employers expect some on-site presence. Design, modeling, and specification review work tends to be the most flexible, while commissioning, testing, and field inspection roles are consistently on-site.
How can I get a electrical engineer job in Atlanta with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Atlanta is targeting co-op and junior engineering roles at utilities and defense primes, many of which recruit directly from Georgia Tech and Georgia State. Entry-level titles like electrical engineering associate, test engineer, or CAD designer are common first steps at Atlanta-area contractors and engineering firms. Completing the FE exam early and gaining AutoCAD or ETAP proficiency gives candidates a concrete advantage over applicants without those credentials.
Which industries hire the most electrical engineers in Atlanta?
Atlanta electrical engineer roles concentrate in Consulting & Professional Services, Construction & Real Estate, and Manufacturing, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Atlanta's position as a regional energy hub, its dense defense contracting community along the northern perimeter, and ongoing transit and stadium infrastructure investments keep demand broad and relatively steady across those sectors.
