Hardware Engineer Jobs in Georgia: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a hardware engineer in Georgia?
Most hardware engineers in Georgia enter the field with a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or a related discipline from an accredited program. Georgia does not require a state license for private-sector hardware engineering roles, but engineers who stamp public infrastructure designs must hold a Professional Engineer license issued by the Georgia State Board of Professional Engineers. Building relevant lab and design experience through internships at Georgia's aerospace or semiconductor employers strengthens candidacy considerably.
How much do hardware engineers make in Georgia?
Hardware engineers in Georgia earn a median of about $100,210 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $70,920 for the lowest 10% to over $165,610 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire hardware engineers in Georgia?
Employers hiring hardware engineers in Georgia right now include Capgemini, Adtran, and EXOTEC, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Georgia's mix of defense contractors, technology manufacturers, and telecommunications companies creates consistent hardware engineering demand across the metro Atlanta corridor and the coast near Savannah.
Which Georgia cities have the most hardware engineer jobs?
Atlanta, Roswell, and Suwanee have the most hardware engineer openings in Georgia. Atlanta and its northern suburbs like Marietta and Peachtree City concentrate the bulk of opportunities through defense and aerospace primes, while Savannah draws hardware talent tied to port logistics technology and manufacturing operations expanding along the coast.
Are there remote hardware engineer jobs in Georgia?
Yes, but they're rare. Hardware engineering is fundamentally hands-on work involving physical prototyping, lab testing, and hardware bring-up, which limits full remote arrangements. About 33% of hardware engineer openings tied to Georgia are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, and those tend to cover architecture, documentation, and design review tasks rather than bench or production work.
How can I get hired as a hardware engineer in Georgia with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying to new-graduate or rotational engineering programs at Georgia's large defense and technology employers, where structured onboarding accommodates candidates without professional experience. Lockheed Martin's Aeronautics campus in Marietta and Raytheon's Georgia operations both run early-career programs. A senior capstone project, personal PCB build, or FPGA implementation in a portfolio carries weight, and pursuing the Fundamentals of Engineering exam through the Georgia State Board of Professional Engineers signals commitment to the profession.
Where can I find and apply to hardware engineer jobs in Georgia?
You can find and apply to hardware engineer jobs in Georgia on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across the state. Find the roles that fit your background and apply directly.
