A Snapshot of Your Day
SGRE is looking for a self-driven and proactive Power System Engineer that would be responsible for developing, testing, and debugging grid simulation models on wind power turbines and plant controllers.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Development of electrical simulation wind turbine models in MATLAB/SIMULINK.
- Develop and validate RMS (PSSE) and EMT (PSCAD) model using the dll obtained from MATLAB/SIMULINK and perform benchmarking.
- Analysis of simulation results and identify needed performance/modelling improvements. Benchmarking and validation of wind turbine models against reference data (field/HIL test result).
- Modeling of Wind Farms; these models will be used to perform steady state, dynamic, transient and frequency domain simulations. Perform simulations to evaluate compliance to requirements related to: Short Circuit, PQ capability, Voltage limits, overloading, of equipment, other simulations.
- Write reports where the input data, results and conclusions of the above simulations will be clearly described.
- Support customer communication including meetings as grid subject matter expert.
What You Bring
- Master’s degree in Electrical Power Engineering
- 8-10 years’ experience in electrical models and control development in performing design and grid compliance.
- Have knowledge of current grid compliance regulations and experience working with grid authorities like ERCOT, NERC, FERC.
- Have experience performing several types of electrical studies like Harmonic Studies, Load Flow Analysis, Dynamic Stability, Frequency domain analysis, Transient studies.
- Have experience modeling and simulation of control systems (e.g. current control, voltage control) and power system components (e.g. transmission lines, transformers, generators) in time-domain and frequency-domain
- Desirable experience with wind turbines (DFIG and/or FC technologies), or other converter-based units (e.g. PV, HVDC, STATCOM, Energy Storage) or other generation units (e.g. hydro power plants).
- Desirable experience with mathematics; numerical analysis, signal processing: filtering, interpolation, FFT, control theory, optimization techniques.

Senior Level Electrical Systems Engineer Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a senior level electrical systems engineer job?
Employers at this level look for engineers who have owned full system lifecycles, not just contributed to them. Candidates who can demonstrate they have set technical direction, resolved complex integration challenges, and mentored junior engineers stand out. A portfolio showing end-to-end project ownership, published patents, or cross-functional leadership on high-stakes programs will carry more weight than certifications alone.
Which companies hire senior level electrical systems engineers?
Companies hiring senior level electrical systems engineers right now include Ghafari Associates, Apple, and Jabil, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Hiring at this level is concentrated among aerospace and defense primes, advanced manufacturing firms, and technology companies with large embedded or power systems divisions.
Are there remote senior level electrical systems engineer jobs?
Yes, though hardware-intensive roles often require at least some on-site presence. About 73% of senior level electrical systems engineer openings are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, meaning fully remote positions exist but hybrid schedules tied to lab or production environments are more common at this level.
What makes an electrical systems engineer role senior level?
Senior level roles are defined by system-wide ownership rather than subsystem contribution. An engineer at this stage sets the technical approach, makes architecture decisions that affect downstream teams, and is accountable for program outcomes. They are also expected to mentor mid-level and early-career engineers, lead design reviews, and interface directly with program managers, customers, or executive stakeholders.
Which industries hire the most senior level electrical systems engineers?
Senior level electrical systems engineer roles concentrate in Manufacturing, Consulting & Professional Services, and Electronics & Hardware, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. These sectors drive demand because they develop safety-critical or high-complexity systems that require experienced engineers capable of owning technical risk from concept through production.
