Electrical Technician Jobs in San Diego: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an electrical technician job in San Diego?
Focus your search on San Diego's defense and aerospace corridor in Kearny Mesa and Miramar, where contractors consistently need technicians with electronics and systems troubleshooting skills. Biotech manufacturers in Torrey Pines and Sorrento Valley also hire heavily for facility and equipment support roles. Candidates with hands-on experience in low-voltage systems, PLCs, or military-standard electronics tend to stand out in this market.
Which companies hire electrical technicians in San Diego?
San Diego electrical technician roles are posted by Thor Solutions, Apple, and Tempo and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. San Diego's employer mix leans heavily toward defense primes, biomedical device firms, and utilities, giving technicians a range of industries to target within a single metro.
Are there remote electrical technician jobs in San Diego?
Yes, though remote work is limited for most electrical technician roles since the work is inherently hands-on and tied to physical equipment or facilities. About 0% of electrical technician openings tied to San Diego are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, and those roles tend to involve technical documentation, quality assurance review, or remote monitoring functions rather than field or bench work.
How can I get an electrical technician job in San Diego with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in San Diego is through defense subcontractors in Kearny Mesa and Otay Mesa, many of which hire entry-level electronics assemblers or test technician aides and train on the job. Community college programs through San Diego Mesa College or Miramar College carry weight with local employers. Obtaining a CompTIA certification or a basic soldering and wiring credential before applying gives candidates a measurable edge at the hiring stage.
