The Mind & Muscle Instructor leads students through various stations of mind/body activities that increase physical coordination and strength, balance and flexibility, and mindful breathing techniques.
The class is designed to support Paideia Academy's "Whole Child" Paradigm, which teaches that a student has four core needs: a Body (to live), a Mind (to learn), a Heart (to love), and a Spirit (to leave a legacy). Instead of separating physical activity from mental growth, Mind & Muscle combines them to build:
- Discipline & Physical Health: Building physical strength, body awareness, and healthy habits.
- Habits of Success: Incorporating the school's Leader in Me / 7 Habits of Highly Effective People curriculum.
- Emotional Intelligence: Teaching scholars self-awareness, personal accountability, and emotional regulation alongside physical exercise.
Job Purpose:
The role of a Mind & Muscle Lab instructor is to guide scholars through a variety of mind/body stations that promote holistic physical/mental intelligence using mindful movement positions that include: physical coordination and strength, balance and flexibility, and mindful breathing techniques. The Mind & Muscle Instructor will nurture a physically and emotionally safe environment for the scholars in attendance.
Responsibilities:
- Lead Mind & Muscle classes according to the assigned schedule
- Lead safe, effective mind & muscle activities to a variety of age groups from 5 to 11 year olds.
- Adhere to employee standards of conduct
- Complete all required staff training
- Excellent ability to work effectively with people of all ages and?levels of ability.
- In-depth ability to understand written and oral instructions.
- Proven dependability and reliability.
- Exceptional ability to learn and apply interventions?pertaining to student behavior.
- Great ability to use good judgment in interacting with?students.
- Strong ability to positively influence children's behavior and?standards of conduct.
- In-depth ability to be firm, fair and consistent in dealing with?student behavior problems.
- Profound ability to be a positive role model for students.
- Prepare weekly program lesson plans.
- Perform other duties as assigned or as the situation dictates within the scope of the job.
Requirements:
- Bachelor degree in education or related field; SEI Certification; Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
- Maintain a positive and energetic attitude
- Be passionate about holistic fitness
- Have 1-2 years of experience leading youth fitness/recreation activities
