Engineering Jobs in Orlando: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a engineering job in Orlando?
Target the clusters where Orlando engineering hiring concentrates: aerospace and defense contractors along the Space Coast corridor, semiconductor and advanced manufacturing firms near the UCF Research Park, and infrastructure and construction firms tied to ongoing transit and theme park expansion. Candidates with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or systems integration experience stand out locally. Networking through the Florida Engineering Society's Central Florida chapter and UCF career fairs gives you direct access to hiring managers before roles go public.
Which companies hire engineerings in Orlando?
Employers hiring engineerings in Orlando right now include Kimley-Horn, Lockheed Martin, and Disney Experiences, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Orlando's hiring mix skews toward defense primes, simulation and modeling firms, utilities, and large-scale construction contractors tied to the region's continued infrastructure and resort development.
Are there remote engineering jobs in Orlando?
Yes, though remote availability depends heavily on discipline, since hands-on roles in manufacturing, civil site work, and lab environments require physical presence. About 20% of engineering openings tied to Orlando are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, with the strongest remote concentration in systems engineering, software-adjacent roles, and project coordination positions. Defense and simulation firms in the Lake Mary and Maitland corridor tend to offer the most hybrid flexibility.
How can I get a engineering job in Orlando with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Orlando is through co-op and internship pipelines at UCF and Valencia College, which feed directly into local defense contractors, utilities like Duke Energy Florida, and civil engineering firms working on I-4 and SunRail expansion projects. Entry-level roles as engineering technicians, CAD drafters, or field inspectors are the most accessible first step. Completing an EIT certification and building project hours through a local firm accelerates your path to a licensed PE position.
Which industries hire the most engineerings in Orlando?
Orlando engineering roles concentrate in Consulting & Professional Services, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Orlando's unique position as home to major defense simulation contracts, a booming construction market, and a growing semiconductor presence at Lake Nona keeps demand across multiple engineering disciplines consistently active.
