Engineering Project Manager Jobs in Vermont: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a engineering project manager in Vermont?
Most engineering project manager roles in Vermont require a bachelor's degree in mechanical, civil, electrical, or industrial engineering. Vermont does not mandate a state-specific project management license, but many employers expect a Project Management Professional credential from the Project Management Institute. Engineers who sign off on public projects may need a Professional Engineer registration through the Vermont Secretary of State's Office of Professional Regulation, which administers PE licensure in Vermont.
How much do engineering project managers make in Vermont?
Engineering project managers in Vermont earn a median of about $157,710 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $110,930 for the lowest 10% to over $214,980 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire engineering project managers in Vermont?
Vermont engineering project manager roles are posted by GlobalFoundries, CVS Health, and VIP Sealing and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Vermont's mix of semiconductor fabrication, defense manufacturing, and energy infrastructure means openings appear across a wider range of industry types than the state's small size might suggest.
Which Vermont cities have the most engineering project manager jobs?
Essex Junction, Colchester, and Montpelier account for the largest share of engineering project manager openings in Vermont. Burlington drives volume through its role as the state's commercial and institutional center, home to manufacturing campuses and university-affiliated research facilities, while smaller cities like Rutland and St. Johnsbury contribute openings tied to regional utilities, defense suppliers, and infrastructure contractors operating outside the Chittenden County core.
Are there remote engineering project manager jobs in Vermont?
Yes, but they're less common than in purely analytical fields because the role frequently requires on-site presence for contractor coordination, inspections, and stakeholder meetings. About 7% of engineering project manager openings tied to Vermont are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, with remote arrangements most often found in program planning, scope development, and vendor management functions that don't require physical site access.
How can I get hired as a engineering project manager in Vermont with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is transitioning from a project engineer, field engineer, or construction coordinator role where you have already managed scope, schedules, or subcontractors. Vermont employers such as Green Mountain Power and regional civil contractors frequently hire project engineers who then advance internally into project management. Pursuing an entry-level PMP-eligible role while working toward your required hours, or completing a Certified Associate in Project Management credential first, meaningfully improves your standing with Vermont hiring managers.
Where can I find and apply to engineering project manager jobs in Vermont?
You can find and apply to engineering project manager jobs in Vermont on Migrate Mate, which lists current Vermont openings updated regularly. Search for roles that match your experience level and specialization, then apply directly to the ones that fit. No sign-up is required to view listings.
