Mid Level Environmental Manager Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a mid level environmental manager job?
Position your experience around ownership, not just task completion. Highlight permits you managed end to end, audits you led independently, or compliance programs you improved with measurable results. Tailor your resume to show you can operate with limited supervision, and emphasize any cross-functional work with operations, legal, or engineering teams. Mid level hiring managers look for evidence of judgment, not just execution.
Which companies hire mid level environmental managers?
Companies hiring mid level environmental managers right now include Burns & McDonnell, Quanta Infrastructure Solutions, and Sodexo, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Hiring at this level is driven by a mix of large industrial and energy companies, government contractors, and environmental consulting firms that need professionals who can manage projects with real regulatory accountability.
Are there remote mid level environmental manager jobs?
Yes, though field and site-based work limits full remote availability for many roles. About 12% of mid level environmental manager openings are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, with hybrid arrangements most common in consulting, reporting, and program management roles where site visits are periodic rather than daily.
How do I move up to a mid level environmental manager role?
The shift from entry level to mid level happens when you build a record of owning projects rather than supporting them. That means taking on permit applications, leading compliance audits, or managing a remediation project from start to close. Deepening expertise in a specific regulation, industry sector, or environmental medium, and demonstrating that your work reduced risk or improved a measurable outcome, signals readiness for mid level responsibility.
Which industries hire the most mid level environmental managers?
Mid Level environmental manager roles concentrate in Consulting & Professional Services, Construction & Real Estate, and Manufacturing, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. These sectors drive hiring because their operations face significant regulatory obligations, require ongoing permit management, and need professionals who can independently oversee environmental compliance without constant senior supervision.
