Mid Level Environmental Remediation Engineer Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a mid level environmental remediation engineer job?
Position yourself around project ownership, not just task completion. Highlight experience managing site investigations, writing work plans, or interfacing directly with regulators or clients. Certifications like CHMM or state-specific PE licensure sharpen your profile. Applications that tie your contributions to specific site outcomes, such as regulatory closure or remediation milestones, stand out more than a general list of duties.
Which companies hire mid level environmental remediation engineers?
Companies hiring mid level environmental remediation engineers right now include Amazon, Naval Nuclear Laboratory, and Geosyntec Consultants, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Hiring at this level comes from a mix of large environmental consulting firms, industrial corporations managing legacy contamination, and government contractors supporting federal cleanup programs.
Are there remote mid level environmental remediation engineer jobs?
Yes, though the role is often field-intensive. About 18% of mid level environmental remediation engineer openings are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, typically covering report writing, data review, and regulatory correspondence. Fully remote roles tend to sit within larger firms that separate field operations from technical documentation and project management functions.
How do I move up to a mid level environmental remediation engineer role?
The path from entry level to mid level is built on progressively independent work. Start by taking full ownership of discrete project phases, such as soil sampling programs or remedial design sections, rather than supporting them. Develop fluency with agency correspondence, cost tracking, and subcontractor coordination. Demonstrated impact, like closing a phase or reducing project timelines, signals readiness for mid level responsibilities.
Which industries hire the most mid level environmental remediation engineers?
Mid Level environmental remediation engineer roles concentrate in Consulting & Professional Services, Retail, and Technology & Software, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. These sectors drive hiring because they carry long-term remediation obligations tied to legacy contamination, active industrial operations, or government-mandated site cleanup programs that require sustained engineering oversight.
