- Experience implementing enterprise Master Data Management (MDM) and Data Quality solutions.
- Familiarity with streaming technologies including Apache Kafka, Azure Event Hub, or Amazon Kinesis.
- Experience developing metadata-driven ETL frameworks and reusable integration components.
- Knowledge of Data Vault 2.0 architecture and modern data lakehouse concepts.
- Familiarity with DevOps practices for data engineering and automated ETL deployments.
- Experience with BI platforms including Power BI, Tableau, or Qlik for downstream reporting integration.
- Understanding of data governance frameworks, lineage, cataloging, and regulatory compliance.
- Cloud certifications in Azure, AWS, Snowflake, or Informatica are highly desirable.
Project Environment
You will be joining an enterprise data engineering team responsible for modernizing data integration and analytics platforms supporting multiple business units across financial services, healthcare, insurance, and retail industries. Current initiatives include:
- Enterprise data warehouse modernization to Snowflake and Azure Synapse
- Cloud-based ETL migration from legacy on-premises platforms
- Real-time data ingestion and analytics pipelines
- Customer 360 and Master Data Management initiatives
- Regulatory reporting and compliance data solutions
- Data Lake and Lakehouse architecture implementation
- Enterprise reporting platforms supporting executive dashboards and operational analytics
- High-volume data pipelines processing billions of records from ERP, CRM, HR, and financial systems
This is a hands-on engineering role where you will contribute to data architecture, ETL development, cloud migration, performance optimization, production support, and continuous improvement of enterprise data integration solutions.

- Experience building and maintaining data pipelines on a major cloud platform
- Familiarity with data warehousing concepts and platforms like Snowflake or Redshift

- Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or a related technical field
Tips for Your Etl Developer Job Search
Tailor your resume to the pipeline
List the specific tools you've used for each pipeline stage: ingestion, transformation, and loading. Recruiters scan for Informatica, dbt, Apache Spark, or SSIS by name, so generic phrases like 'data integration experience' won't get you past an automated screen.
Apply early to roles that fit
Migrate Mate lists etl developer openings from across the United States in one place, so you can find roles that match and apply directly to each listing.
Show data volume and throughput numbers
Hiring managers want to know the scale you've worked at. Quantify your pipelines by rows processed, frequency of runs, or system latency improvements, because an etl developer who has handled high-volume production loads stands out from one who only lists technologies.
Filter openings by your cloud stack
ETL roles split sharply between AWS Glue, Azure Data Factory, and Google Cloud Dataflow environments. Target openings that match your actual experience rather than applying broadly, since mismatched stack requirements are the most common reason etl developer interviews stall at the technical screen.
Prepare for a live pipeline design round
Many etl developer interviews include a whiteboard or live-coding session where you design a pipeline from a prompt. Practice explaining your decisions around scheduling, error handling, and idempotency out loud, not just writing the code, because interviewers evaluate your reasoning process.
Negotiate with migration complexity in mind
If the role involves legacy-to-cloud migration, that scope substantially changes the workload compared to greenfield work. Ask about existing pipeline debt before accepting an offer so you can factor maintenance burden into your compensation discussion and set realistic delivery expectations.
Etl Developer Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
Which companies are hiring the most etl developers?
The companies hiring the most etl developers right now include Raas Infotek, Citi, and 9th Way Insignia, with the largest share of openings in Virginia, Texas, and New Jersey, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Demand is consistently strong in financial services, healthcare systems, and large-scale e-commerce operations.
How many etl developer jobs are remote?
About 38% of etl developer openings are fully remote or hybrid as of August 2026, making it one of the more location-flexible roles in data engineering. Cloud-native pipeline work and roles focused on Snowflake or dbt tend to have the highest remote availability, while on-premises warehouse migrations more often require an on-site presence.
How do you become a etl developer?
Start by building a strong foundation in SQL and relational database design, then learn at least one ETL framework such as dbt, Talend, or Apache Airflow. Practice building end-to-end pipelines using public datasets and deploy them on a free cloud tier to demonstrate real-world skills. A portfolio with documented pipelines, including error handling and scheduling logic, carries more weight than coursework alone when applying for your first role.
Can you get hired as a etl developer with little experience?
You can get hired with limited experience if you demonstrate hands-on pipeline work through a portfolio, even if it was built outside a formal job. Focus on junior or associate etl developer titles, which are common at consulting firms and mid-size companies building out their data infrastructure. Familiarity with one cloud platform and the ability to write clean, documented SQL will set you apart from candidates who only list certifications without practical examples.
What does the etl developer interview process look like?
Most etl developer interviews begin with a recruiter screen focused on your tool experience and pipeline scale, followed by a technical phone interview covering SQL, data modeling, and sometimes a short take-home exercise. A final round typically includes a live pipeline design session where you walk through architecture decisions, error handling, and scheduling logic with an engineering panel. Some companies add a systems design component if the role involves high-volume or real-time data.
Where can I find and apply to etl developer jobs?
You can find and apply to etl developer jobs on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from across the United States. Search for roles that match your stack and experience level, then apply directly to each listing. There's no need to go elsewhere, since openings are pulled from a wide range of industries and updated regularly so you're seeing current opportunities.
