Title: Database Administrator (DBA) - Oracle
Location: Remote
Role Summary
Sapiens is transforming from a Services-based delivery model to a SaaS and AI-led platform business. This role is responsible for supporting, coordinating, and maintaining Oracle databases across our SaaS-hosted production environments — installation, configuration, troubleshooting, upgrades, performance tuning, backup/restore, security, auditing, production support, and migration — for a multi-tenant/multi-customer platform running on AWS and Azure. We're looking for someone who thinks like a cloud-native operator, not a legacy on-prem administrator, and who can help modernize our database practices as we scale.
Responsibilities
Administer Oracle 19c+ databases across on-prem, AWS, and Azure — including RAC and Oracle OCI — in a multi-tenant/multi-customer SaaS environment
Install and configure new versions of Oracle Database Server; maintain database servers and processes, including system health/performance monitoring, to meet customer-facing SLAs for availability and security.
Independently analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve issues in real time, including participation in an on-call rotation for production incidents.
Build and maintain automation (scripts, Terraform, Ansible, or equivalent Infrastructure-as-Code) to provision, patch, and monitor databases at scale across many customer instances; document and continuously improve processes.
Assist developers with complex query tuning and schema refinement.
Perform scheduled maintenance and support release/deployment activities after hours, within SLA-driven change windows.
Coordinate with the SaaS/Cloud Operations team on shared infrastructure, capacity planning, and incident escalation.
Apply AI tools to database administration workflows (e.g., troubleshooting, automation, documentation) and share this expertise with the team.
Identify, recommend, and promote best practices for multi-tenant data isolation, encryption, and compliance (SOC 2, ISO 27001, GDPR) relevant to hosting insurance client data.
Mentor team members and share domain/technical expertise.
Experience & Education
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
4+ years of proven experience in Oracle Database Administration and maintenance.
2+ years supporting databases in a multi-tenant or multi-customer SaaS/cloud-hosted production environment.
"Born in the Cloud" experience strongly preferred — prior work at a company whose products/infrastructure were architected natively for the cloud (SaaS-first), rather than migrated from legacy on-prem systems. This reflects the cloud-native mindset, automation-first habits, and platform-scale thinking we need as we complete our shift from a Services to a SaaS and AI-led model.
3+ years' experience in the Insurance/Financial industry preferred
Technical Skills
Strong Oracle troubleshooting and performance-tuning ability, including TKPROF, EXPLAIN PLAN, OEM, and custom scripts.
Hands-on experience with backup/recovery using RMAN.
Experience with Data Pump, Export/Import, SQL*Plus, and SQL*Loader.
Proficiency in PL/SQL required; PG-SQL a plus. PostgreSQL experience a plus.
Cloud DBA experience with AWS preferred; Azure/OCI a plus, including managed database services (Amazon RDS, Azure Database).
Familiarity with Infrastructure-as-Code/automation tooling (Terraform, Ansible, or scripting) for provisioning and patching at scale.
Familiarity with cloud observability tooling (CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, Datadog, or similar) alongside OEM.
Working knowledge of Windows and Linux environments.
Experience with backend design and development.
Experience migrating data across various RDBMS platforms.
Hands-on experience using AI tools/assistants in a technical workflow preferred.
Other
Incident resolution experience, including on-call/SLA-driven support.
Understanding of multi-tenant data isolation, encryption, and compliance frameworks (SOC 2, ISO 27001, GDPR).
Understanding of DaaS and SaaS concepts, with hands-on experience in SaaS environments.
Cloud cost/capacity management experience (right-sizing, storage tiering) a plus.
Strong communication, accountability, and interpersonal skills; comfortable working cross-functionally in a fast-changing environment.

Tips for Your Oracle Database Developer Job Search
Tailor your resume for PL/SQL depth
Recruiters scanning oracle database developer resumes look past generic SQL mentions. List specific PL/SQL objects you've built, such as stored procedures, triggers, and packages, and name the Oracle versions and environments you've worked in, not just the title.
Certify before competing for senior roles
Oracle Database certifications, particularly OCA and OCP, carry real weight in shortlisting for mid-level and senior positions. If you're targeting roles above junior, list your certification status explicitly so applicant tracking systems don't filter you out early.
Filter openings by industry for faster matches
Oracle developer roles in financial services often prioritize performance tuning and high-availability configurations, while government and healthcare roles lean toward compliance and data integrity. Targeting openings by sector helps you apply where your existing domain knowledge already translates.
Apply early to roles that fit
Migrate Mate lists oracle database developer openings from across the United States in one place, so you can find roles that match and apply directly to each listing.
Prepare a technical walkthrough for interviews
Oracle developer interviews frequently include a live query optimization or schema design exercise. Practice explaining your tuning decisions out loud, covering index choices, execution plan reads, and why you'd use partitioning or materialized views in a given scenario.
Negotiate using scope, not just title
When an offer comes in, ask about the database scale, production environment access, and ownership of architecture decisions. These details clarify the actual seniority of the role and give you grounded leverage if the compensation doesn't reflect the responsibility.
Oracle Database Developer Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
Which companies are hiring the most oracle database developers?
The companies hiring the most oracle database developers right now include General Dynamics Information Technology, Peraton, and Quevera, with the largest share of openings in Virginia, Maryland, and Texas, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Demand tends to concentrate in industries with large-scale transactional systems, including financial services, healthcare, and government contracting.
How many oracle database developer jobs are remote?
About 68% of oracle database developer openings are fully remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting steady but selective remote availability in this field. Sub-specializations like PL/SQL development and data modeling tend to have the highest share of remote-eligible postings, while roles requiring direct production database access on-site are more commonly on-site or hybrid.
How do you become an oracle database developer?
Start by building a strong foundation in relational database concepts and SQL, then move into Oracle-specific syntax and PL/SQL programming. Work through hands-on practice using Oracle Database Express Edition, which is free to download. Pursue an Oracle Certified Associate credential to validate your skills formally. From there, contribute to real projects through internships, contract work, or open-source data initiatives to build a demonstrable portfolio before applying to full-time roles.
Can you get hired as an oracle database developer with little experience?
Yes, entry-level oracle database developer roles exist, particularly at consulting firms and large enterprises running legacy Oracle systems that need developer support. The most effective approach for candidates with limited experience is to demonstrate PL/SQL fluency through a portfolio of scripts, schema designs, or query optimization examples you've built independently. Pairing that with an OCA certification and any internship exposure to Oracle environments significantly improves your shortlisting odds.
What does the oracle database developer interview process look like?
Oracle database developer interviews typically run across two to four rounds. An initial screen with a recruiter or hiring manager covers your background and environment experience. A technical round follows, often including a live or take-home PL/SQL coding exercise, query optimization problems, and questions on indexing strategies and execution plans. Later rounds may involve a system design discussion or a walkthrough of a past project, with a focus on schema decisions and performance tradeoffs.
Where can I find and apply to oracle database developer jobs?
You can find and apply to oracle database developer jobs on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from employers across the United States. Search the available roles, find the ones that match your experience and specialization, and apply directly to each listing that fits.
