Tips for Your Expeditor Job Search
Tailor your resume to the industry
Expeditor roles in construction differ sharply from those in manufacturing or healthcare. Pull the exact terminology from each job posting, whether that's purchase order tracking, material release, or vendor follow-up, and mirror it in your resume's bullet points.
Quantify your coordination wins
Hiring managers for expeditor roles want proof you moved things faster or prevented delays. Replace vague phrases like 'coordinated with vendors' with specifics: how many suppliers you managed, the lead times you cut, or the number of open orders you handled at once.
Apply early to roles that fit
Migrate Mate lists expeditor openings from across the United States in one place, so you can find roles that match and apply directly to each listing.
Target postings that name your ERP system
Many expeditor postings require hands-on experience with a specific ERP or procurement platform such as SAP, Oracle, or NetSuite. Prioritize listings that name a system you've used and call it out prominently in your resume summary and skills section.
Prepare scenario answers for delay situations
Interviewers almost always ask how you handled a late shipment or a supplier who missed a deadline. Prepare two or three concrete examples using the situation, your action, and the outcome, so you can answer confidently without sounding generic.
Follow up on applications within a week
Expeditor roles fill quickly because hiring managers need someone who can start with minimal ramp time. A brief, professional follow-up email after seven days signals urgency and attention to detail, two qualities the role demands daily.
Expeditor Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
Which companies are hiring the most expeditors?
The companies hiring the most expeditors right now include Expeditors International Of Washington, Expeditors, and Applied Industrial Technologies, with the largest share of openings in Washington, Texas, and Massachusetts, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Demand tends to be highest in industries with complex supply chains such as manufacturing, construction, and aerospace.
How many expeditor jobs are remote?
About 4% of expeditor openings are fully remote or hybrid as of June 2026, though the role is predominantly on-site because of its hands-on coordination with warehouses, production floors, and receiving docks. Roles focused on vendor communication, purchase order management, and supplier follow-up are the most likely to offer remote or hybrid flexibility.
How do you become an expeditor?
Start by building familiarity with supply chain fundamentals, including purchase orders, vendor communication, and inventory tracking. Gain hands-on experience in a warehouse, purchasing assistant, or logistics coordinator role to learn how goods move through a facility. Develop proficiency with an ERP system and practice clear, persistent communication, since following up with suppliers is the core skill the job demands.
Can you get hired as an expeditor with little or no experience?
Yes, many employers hire entry-level expeditors and train on the job, especially in manufacturing and distribution. Your strongest assets without direct experience are organizational skills, comfort with spreadsheets or basic ERP tools, and any background in customer service or administrative coordination. Emphasize your ability to manage multiple tasks under deadline pressure and your willingness to follow up persistently until an issue is resolved.
What does the expeditor interview process look like?
Most expeditor interviews start with a phone screen focused on your experience with purchase orders, vendor follow-up, and any ERP systems you've used. An in-person or video interview typically follows with scenario-based questions about how you handle delayed shipments, competing priorities, or unresponsive suppliers. Some employers add a practical component, such as reviewing a mock order status report and explaining how you would act on it.
Where can I find and apply to expeditor jobs?
You can find and apply to expeditor jobs on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from across the United States. Search the listings to find roles that match your experience and location, then apply directly to each one that fits.
