Description
Job Summary
This position is the starting point of the four positions within the Bus Communications department for the Field Service Technician Job Family. This position will have the responsibility of maintaining and repairing the equipment deployed on vehicles and platforms within UTA with the most support, assistance and guidance. Within the Job Family, with each progressive step throughout the job family will be a bit more independent and responsible for more proficiency, with more complex systems or issues.
This position is critical in supporting UTA Operations as a member of the Bus Communications team. They work with the rest of the Bus Communications group to install, remove, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair communications equipment in all UTA vehicles equipped with onboard technology, as well as Rail and Bus passenger platform technology. Performs Preventative Maintenance for onboard and platform-based technology equipment. Troubleshoots down to the device level and replaces as needed. Travels to remote sites as needed for repairs and/or preventative maintenance. Prepare assemblies needed for installation projects as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
EDUCATION/TRAINING
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Any combination of training and education greater or equal to five hundred hours (500) hours from an accredited college or university with emphasis on an Information Technology or Engineering field of study. Preferred
- Associate degree in Information Technology, Engineering, or Electronics, field of study. Preferred
Experience
- Two-years of work experience in Information Technology, Engineering, or Electronics
- Competent in troubleshooting and repairing electronic systems to device or board level.
- Competent with Digital Multi-meter, and network cable tester.
- Competent in written and oral communication skills.
- Competent with Microsoft Office software.
- Competent with Microsoft and Android operating systems.
Must have a valid Utah driver's license with no more than 4 moving violations in the past 3 years. Cannot have more than 1 violation of driving under the influence of alcohol, any drug, or the combined influence of any alcohol or any drug, within the last 10 years.
Must be able to pass BCI, FBI, and UCJIS background check.
This job requires regular and predictable attendance

Shift: 7:00 am - 3:30 pm with Saturday/Sunday off*

Pay Rate: $25.82 per hour
