Field Operations Specialist Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a field operations specialist in Texas?
Most field operations specialist roles in Texas require a high school diploma or associate degree plus hands-on field experience in a related area such as utilities, telecommunications, energy, or logistics. No single state-issued license governs the title, but many employers in Texas require role-specific credentials such as OSHA-10 or OSHA-30 safety certification, a valid Texas commercial driver's license, or industry-specific training from bodies like the Texas Railroad Commission for energy-related work. Building experience in adjacent roles like field technician, dispatch coordinator, or service representative is the most common path into the position.
Which companies hire field operations specialists in Texas?
Employers hiring field operations specialists in Texas right now include Baker Hughes Company, Koch, and SMS group USA, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's concentration of energy, telecom, and logistics infrastructure means field operations roles appear across both large corporations and regional service contractors with ongoing statewide hiring needs.
Which Texas cities have the most field operations specialist jobs?
Houston, Sinton, and Brownsville have the most field operations specialist openings in Texas. Houston leads due to its dominant energy and petrochemical sector, Dallas attracts telecommunications and logistics employers with large regional hubs, and San Antonio's mix of utilities, military installation support, and distribution operations generates steady field staffing demand throughout the year.
Are there remote field operations specialist jobs in Texas?
Yes, but they're rare. Field operations specialist work is largely hands-on and site-dependent, which limits remote options significantly. About 13% of field operations specialist openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, and those positions tend to be in scheduling, dispatch coordination, or operations analysis rather than direct field work.
How can I get hired as a field operations specialist in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through a field technician or operations associate role at a Texas utility, telecom, or logistics company, where on-the-job training is standard. Large Texas employers like Oncor and AT&T run structured apprenticeship and new-hire development programs that bring in candidates from adjacent trades or customer service backgrounds. Earning an OSHA-10 safety card before applying gives candidates a concrete credential that speeds up the hiring process, and candidates moving from field service, dispatch, or warehouse supervision roles are frequently considered for specialist-level openings.
Where can I find and apply to field operations specialist jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to field operations specialist jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current Texas openings across energy, telecommunications, logistics, and utilities. Find the roles that fit your experience and location and apply directly to the employer through each listing.
