Field Operations Specialist Jobs in Indiana: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a field operations specialist in Indiana?
Most Indiana employers look for candidates with an associate or bachelor's degree in operations management, engineering technology, or a related technical field combined with direct field experience. No single state-issued license is universally required, but roles in utilities or environmental services may require an Indiana-specific credential such as a water or wastewater operator certification administered through the Indiana Department of Environmental Management. Building experience in a hands-on adjacent role, such as field technician or operations coordinator, is the most common entry path.
Which companies hire field operations specialists in Indiana?
Employers hiring field operations specialists in Indiana right now include DICK'S Sporting Goods and Lumen, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Indiana's strong manufacturing and energy sectors mean large industrial employers and utility companies consistently account for a significant share of these openings statewide.
Which Indiana cities have the most field operations specialist jobs?
Schererville, South Bend, and Terre Haute have the most field operations specialist openings in Indiana. Indianapolis leads because it serves as the state's corporate and logistics hub, home to major utility, pharmaceutical, and distribution operations, while Fort Wayne and Evansville draw openings from manufacturing plants and regional infrastructure projects that anchor those metro economies.
How can I get hired as a field operations specialist in Indiana with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is starting as a field technician or operations associate at a large Indiana manufacturer or utility, then moving into a specialist role after demonstrating on-site reliability. Employers like Cummins and Duke Energy run structured associate and technician programs that feed directly into field operations tracks. Earning a technical certification, such as an Indiana water operator credential or a CMMS software proficiency certificate, gives candidates a measurable edge when competing against others who also lack direct specialist experience.
Where can I find and apply to field operations specialist jobs in Indiana?
You can find and apply to field operations specialist jobs in Indiana on Migrate Mate, which lists current Indiana openings across industries and experience levels. Find roles that fit your background and apply directly to the employers posting them.
