Job Description
We are seeking a Project Manager to lead capital and operational projects in highly regulated industrial environments. This role requires a seasoned professional who can independently manage projects end-to-end and has a strong command of the decision gate process —from initial scoping and budgeting through execution, closeout, and handover, within an integrated team.
The ideal candidate is a self-directed leader with strong financial acumen, deep experience in regulated industries, and the ability to communicate fluently with other project management professionals using standard PM methodologies and terminology.
Expectation to work onsite in Whiting, IN
Key Responsibilities
- Project Delivery
- Plan, execute, and close projects across engineering, construction, or energy transition portfolios
- Ensure delivery within scope, schedule, and cost targets
- Planning & Scheduling
- Develop and maintain detailed project plans, milestones, and schedules
- Track progress and adjust plans to meet changing project needs
- Budget & Cost Control
- Manage CAPEX budgets and forecasts
- Monitor expenditures and ensure alignment with financial targets
- Stakeholder Management
- Interface with internal teams (engineering, procurement, construction) and external stakeholders
- Maintain strong relationships with vendors, regulators, and partners
- Risk Management
- Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks
- Implement contingency plans to maintain delivery objectives
- HSSE Compliance
- Ensure adherence to bp’s health, safety, security, and environmental (HSSE) standards
- Promote a strong safety culture across all project activities
- Reporting & Governance
- Provide regular updates to senior leadership on project performance
- Maintain project documentation and governance controls
- SOX control responsibilities may be part of this role, which are to be adhered to where applicable
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline
- 5–10+ years of project management experience (energy, oil & gas, or infrastructure preferred)
- Demonstrated experience managing large-scale capital projects
- Strong knowledge of project controls (cost, schedule, risk)
- Experience with tools such as ECOSYS, Primavera P6, SAP, or similar systems
Preferred Qualifications
- PMP, APM, or similar certification
- Experience in low-carbon projects
- Familiarity with contracting strategies and supply chain management
