Field Operations Supervisor Jobs in Washington: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a field operations supervisor job in Washington?
Focus on Washington's dominant hiring sectors: federal contracting, utilities, facilities management, and public transit. Roles concentrate around Navy Yard, NoMa, and the broader Capitol Hill corridor where government contractors and infrastructure operators cluster. Candidates who can demonstrate experience managing crews on large-scale government or public-sector projects stand out. Familiarity with compliance-heavy environments and multi-site coordination is a consistent differentiator in this market.
Which companies hire field operations supervisors in Washington?
Companies currently hiring field operations supervisors in Washington include AFL-CIO, M.C. Dean, and EPS, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Washington's employer mix is heavily weighted toward federal contractors, transit authorities, and utilities operating across the District and its immediate surrounding jurisdictions.
Are there remote field operations supervisor jobs in Washington?
Yes, but only partially: field operations supervisor work is inherently on-site because it involves direct crew oversight and physical site inspections. About 57% of field operations supervisor openings tied to Washington are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, typically reflecting roles where scheduling, reporting, and vendor coordination are handled off-site. The hands-on, field-facing components almost always require a physical presence in Washington.
How can I get a field operations supervisor job in Washington with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Washington is through field technician or crew lead roles with federal contractors or with WMATA, the District's transit authority, where internal promotion to supervisor is common. Washington's concentration of government contractors also means apprenticeship and workforce development programs through agencies like the DC Department of Employment Services can open early doors. Building certifications in safety management or project coordination accelerates that transition.
Which industries hire the most field operations supervisors in Washington?
The sectors hiring the most field operations supervisors in Washington are Consulting & Professional Services, Science & Research, and Automotive, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Washington's status as the seat of federal government drives outsized demand in public infrastructure, defense contracting, and facilities services, where on-the-ground operational oversight is a continuous need.
