Entry Level Field Service Technician Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an entry level field service technician job?
Start by building hands-on experience through vocational programs, community college coursework, or internships that put you in front of real equipment. Employers at this level look for mechanical aptitude, a valid driver's license, and comfort working independently at customer sites. Certifications in electronics, HVAC, or a manufacturer's product line give you a concrete edge over candidates with no formal credentials.
Which companies hire entry level field service technicians?
Companies hiring entry level field service technicians right now include Cummins, Rivian, and Xylem, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. At this level, hiring comes from a wide range of employers, including equipment manufacturers, medical device companies, industrial service firms, and IT hardware providers that run structured onboarding or apprenticeship programs for new technicians.
Are there remote entry level field service technician jobs?
Yes, though most field service roles are on-site by nature. About 8% of entry level field service technician openings are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, and these tend to be technical support or coordination roles that complement field work rather than replace it. Fully remote openings at this level are less common than in desk-based technical fields.
Are these new grad field service technician jobs?
Yes, the listings here include new grad, recent graduate, and junior field service technician roles. A posting is new-grad friendly when it explicitly welcomes zero to two years of experience, counts internships or co-op placements toward requirements, or accepts a relevant certification or portfolio in place of professional work history. Look for language like 'will train' or 'entry level welcome' in the job description.
Which industries hire the most entry level field service technicians?
Entry Level field service technician roles concentrate in Manufacturing, Automotive, and Technology & Software, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. These sectors drive hiring at this level because they maintain large installed bases of equipment that need regular servicing, and they routinely bring on junior technicians to support senior staff and build a pipeline of trained field personnel.
