Finance Director Jobs in Atlanta: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a finance director job in Atlanta?
Focus on Atlanta's densest hiring corridors: Buckhead's finance and private equity firms, Midtown's corporate headquarters, and the Central Perimeter's healthcare and technology companies. Candidates with experience in multi-entity consolidations, healthcare revenue cycle, or publicly traded company reporting stand out locally. A CPA and demonstrated board-level communication experience are consistent differentiators across Atlanta's largest employers.
Which companies hire finance directors in Atlanta?
Companies currently hiring finance directors in Atlanta include Honeywell, The Home Depot, and Jobot, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Atlanta's market is anchored by Fortune 500 headquarters, large regional health systems, and a growing cluster of private equity-backed portfolio companies, all of which hire at the finance director level on a recurring basis.
Are there remote finance director jobs in Atlanta?
Yes, though finance director roles are less remote-friendly than individual-contributor finance positions, given the stakeholder management and leadership responsibilities involved. About 90% of finance director openings tied to Atlanta are remote or hybrid as of September 2026. Financial planning and analysis functions tend to offer the most hybrid flexibility, while controllership and treasury roles typically require more in-office presence.
How can I get a finance director job in Atlanta with little or no experience?
The most realistic path is moving up through Atlanta's large health systems or Fortune 500 finance rotational programs, which promote from senior manager to director faster than most markets. Target senior financial analyst or finance manager roles at Midtown and Buckhead headquarters, build exposure to FP&A or corporate development, and pursue a CPA or MBA through one of Atlanta's business schools to accelerate the timeline.
