Fire Protection Engineer Jobs in Florida

Job Summary

Elite Engineering Group is seeking an experienced Plumbing & Fire Protection Project Manager / Senior Designer to join our growing MEP engineering team.

This is a senior-level position. We are specifically looking for an experienced professional who can independently manage projects, lead the Plumbing and Fire Protection design process, coordinate directly with clients and other disciplines, and deliver complete construction documents with minimal supervision.

The ideal candidate will have strong technical knowledge of plumbing and fire protection systems and proven experience managing multiple commercial and institutional projects from design through construction administration.

Responsibilities

• Independently manage Plumbing and Fire Protection projects from initial design through construction administration.
• Lead the design of domestic water, sanitary, vent, storm drainage, natural gas, and other plumbing systems.
• Develop fire protection designs in accordance with applicable NFPA standards and project requirements.
• Prepare and oversee complete construction documents using Revit and AutoCAD.
• Perform plumbing calculations, equipment sizing, piping sizing, fixture calculations, and other required engineering/design calculations.
• Coordinate directly with architects, owners, contractors, consultants, and other MEP disciplines.
• Review applicable building, plumbing, fire protection, and life-safety codes.
• Manage multiple projects, schedules, deadlines, and deliverables simultaneously.
• Review work prepared by junior designers and provide technical direction when required.
• Perform interdisciplinary coordination and identify conflicts before construction.
• Respond to RFIs and review shop drawings, submittals, and contractor coordination items.
• Participate in client and project coordination meetings.
• Perform site visits and field investigations when required.
• Assist with resolving field conditions and construction-related issues.
• Maintain high standards for drawing quality, technical accuracy, and code compliance.

Requirements

• Minimum 5+ years of relevant Plumbing and/or Fire Protection design experience.
• Demonstrated ability to independently manage projects and produce complete construction documents.
• Strong experience designing plumbing systems for commercial, educational, institutional, municipal, healthcare, or similar facilities.
• Strong understanding of fire protection design and applicable NFPA standards.
• Working knowledge of applicable building, plumbing, fire, and life-safety codes.
• Strong Revit and AutoCAD proficiency.
• Experience coordinating projects with architectural, structural, mechanical, and electrical disciplines.
• Experience reviewing submittals and responding to RFIs during construction.
• Ability to communicate professionally with clients, architects, contractors, and AHJs.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
• Florida project experience is strongly preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Fire Protection Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
• PE, EI/EIT, NICET, or other relevant professional certifications are a plus but not required for candidates with strong applicable experience.
