Fire & Safety Equipment Company is looking for a dependable, mechanically inclined individual to join our team as a Part-Time Fire Protection Service Technician based out of our Virginia Beach location and serving customers throughout the greater Tidewater area.We are a family-owned Virginia company providing fire protection equipment, inspections, service, and life-safety solutions to customers throughout the Commonwealth.This position is intentionally being kept flexible. We are open to considering different schedules and levels of availability based on the right candidate. This could be a great fit for a firefighter, retiree, experienced fire protection technician, mechanically inclined individual, or someone looking for consistent part-time work without necessarily committing to a traditional five-day schedule.
What You'll Do
Depending on experience and training, responsibilities may include:
- Inspecting, servicing, and maintaining portable fire extinguishers at customer locations
- Occasionally working in our Virginia Beach shop servicing, recharging, and maintaining fire extinguishers
- Performing emergency and exit lighting inspections
- Identifying deficiencies and needed repairs at customer locations
- Completing electronic service documentation and inspection reports
- Maintaining service equipment and assigned inventory
- Working independently once properly trained
Who We're Looking For
Fire protection experience is a plus, but it is not necessarily required. We're more interested in finding someone who is dependable, mechanically inclined, comfortable working independently, and willing to learn.A strong candidate will have:
- Good mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability
- Strong attention to detail
- Dependability and good time-management skills
- A professional attitude when working with customers
- Ability to use a tablet or mobile device for service documentation
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
