INTRODUCTION
ATCS is seeking a highly motivated, multi-faceted Senior Traffic Engineer to join our growing team in Glen Allen, VA! This is a hybrid role with four days per week required onsite in one of our ATCS offices.
Responsibilities:
- Perform roadway intersection, interchange, and corridor transportation planning studies from start to finish. Ability to identify and diagnose study needs, perform traffic forecasting and future year analysis, develop alternative options, and produce documentation in support of grant funding applications.
- Deliver traffic operations and safety analyses to support traffic engineering and roadway design projects.
- Communicate technical information during multi-agency and multi-discipline study working group meetings.
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or relevant field is required.
- PE is required.
- 6+ years of relevant experience.
- Understands and is able to apply Highway Capacity Manual (HCM) and Highway Safety Manual (HSM) traffic analysis methods.
- Proficient in standard traffic operations modeling and simulation tools used in Virginia, which include HCS, Synchro/SimTraffic, Vissim, and SIDRA.
- Experience with traffic analysis methods described in the VDOT Traffic Operations and Safety Analysis Manual (TOSAM) and VDOT Forecasting Guidebook.

- Able to represent ATCS with client agencies and partner firms.
- Manage budgets, schedules, and technical teams to meet study milestones.
COMPENSATION
- Our employees are the most critical part of ATCS. For this position, we offer a competitive salary range of $115,000 to $150,000 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications. The role is also eligible for an annual bonus, with a target 2% of the employee's annualized salary. In addition to compensation, ATCS offers outstanding, employee-focused benefits for you and your family.
