JOB SUMMARY
Do you want to experience the incredible Alaskan outdoors? We’re constantly on the lookout for hardworking individuals who take the initiative to encourage others to greatness. A Laborer carries out manual tasks which contribute to the success of the project for their professional specialty (road, pipelines, rail, etc.) in observance of the safety guidelines.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- Cleaning and preparing the construction site and pavement surfaces.
- Keep equipment and tools in good working condition.
- Shovel asphalt and other materials.
- Luting / raking asphalt and aggregates.
- Set-up and take down temporary work zones efficiently.
- Optimal traffic control in and around work zones (flagging) crafting a safe environment for traffic and onsite workers.
- Assist in backing and dumping of tri-axles and milling machines.
- Handling of hot liquid asphalt and various materials.
- Remove old asphalt, concrete and other materials using a jackhammer or cut-off saw.
- Erect and remove delineating devices such as barrels and cones.
- Seal end joints.
- Help fill water tanks on equipment as needed.
- Compact material with small hand rollers and vibratory plates.
- Perform other tasks as assigned.
Education
High School diploma/GED
SKILLS
- Valid Driver’s License and excellent driving record.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
- Follow all DOT and company safety regulations.
ENVIRONMENT
- Wears and maintains personal protective equipment (PPE), as required.
- Regularly required to communicate (talk and hear).
- Standing/working on feet for long periods, and walking across uneven terrain.
- Frequent exposure to loud noise.
- Regularly exposed to all outdoor weather conditions, dust, and airborne particles.
