Green Card Event Planner Jobs
Event Planner roles qualify for EB-2 or EB-3 green card sponsorship when the position requires a bachelor's degree in hospitality, event management, or a related field and the employer completes the PERM labor certification process. Sponsorship leads to permanent residency, not a temporary visa, making it a long-term career move for foreign professionals in this field.

Verify your degree aligns with PERM
PERM requires your credential to match the job description. A degree in event management, hospitality, or marketing typically supports the specialty occupation argument, while an unrelated degree can stall the labor certification even if you have years of experience.
Target employers with on-site events infrastructure
Hotels, convention centers, universities, and corporate headquarters with dedicated events departments are more likely to sponsor PERM than one-person planning boutiques. Larger venues run multi-year event calendars that justify the permanent hire and PERM filing cost.
Ask whether the role is EB-2 or EB-3
If the employer lists an advanced degree as required, your petition may qualify under EB-2, which can shorten your wait in certain priority date backlogs. For most Event Planner roles with a standard bachelor's requirement, EB-3 is the more common filing track.
Search for green card sponsoring employers on Migrate Mate
Filter by Event Planner roles where the employer has active PERM or I-140 history. Migrate Mate surfaces this DOL and USCIS filing data so you're targeting companies already familiar with the sponsorship process before your first interview.
Understand the prevailing wage before negotiating
PERM requires the employer to pay at least the DOL prevailing wage for your role and location. Look up the wage level for Event Planner using the OFLC Wage Search before salary discussions so you know the floor the employer is legally required to meet.
Confirm E-Verify enrollment during the offer stage
Your employer must be E-Verify enrolled to support I-9 compliance throughout your PERM process. If the company hasn't used E-Verify before, flag it early, because onboarding can delay the labor certification timeline by several weeks.
Green Card Event Planner: Frequently Asked Questions
Do Event Planner jobs qualify for EB-2 or EB-3 green card sponsorship?
Most Event Planner positions qualify under EB-3, which covers skilled workers and professionals with a bachelor's degree. If the employer's job description requires a master's degree or the candidate holds an advanced degree plus specialized credentials in event or hospitality management, the role may support an EB-2 petition instead. Your employer's immigration counsel makes the final classification call based on the specific job duties.
How does PERM green card sponsorship differ from H-1B for Event Planner roles?
H-1B visa is a temporary work visa subject to an annual lottery with a capped number of slots, while PERM-based EB-3 sponsorship leads to permanent residency with no lottery. The PERM process typically takes one to three years from labor certification through I-140 approval, but it's a one-time path to a green card rather than a visa you must renew every few years. For most nationalities, EB-3 priority date backlogs are also significantly shorter than EB-2.
What does the PERM labor certification process involve for my employer?
Your employer files a PERM application with the DOL certifying that no qualified U.S. worker was available for the role at the prevailing wage. They must run a recruitment campaign, document results, and submit the application through the FLAG portal. The process usually takes six to eighteen months depending on whether the DOL selects the application for a supervised recruitment audit.
How can I find Event Planner jobs that include green card sponsorship?
Standard job boards don't filter by PERM or I-140 filing history, so most open roles don't disclose sponsorship availability upfront. Migrate Mate lets you search Event Planner positions specifically by employers with documented green card sponsorship activity, saving you the step of asking at the end of each application whether the company will sponsor a PERM petition.
Does my work experience count if my degree isn't in event management?
DOL PERM rules allow three years of relevant work experience to substitute for one year of education in some cases, but the job description must be written to allow that equivalency from the start. If the employer drafts the PERM job order requiring a specific degree, your experience alone won't satisfy it. Clarify with the employer early whether the position description can be structured to accommodate your credential background.
