Insurance Assistant Green Card Jobs
Insurance Assistant roles qualify for EB-3 sponsorship when employers can demonstrate no qualified U.S. workers are available through the PERM labor certification process. Positions supporting underwriters, claims adjusters, or policy servicing teams often meet the skilled-worker threshold. Sponsorship leads to lawful permanent residency, not a temporary visa.

Match your credentials to PERM requirements
PERM requires your employer to prove the job demands specific education or experience. Gather transcripts, professional certificates like your insurance licensing, and any CPCU or CISR coursework before your employer begins the labor certification filing.
Search for employers with PERM filing history
Use the OFLC Wage Search to look up Insurance Assistant or insurance support roles filed under PERM. Employers who have sponsored before understand the process and are far less likely to withdraw sponsorship mid-filing.
Verify your role meets EB-3 skilled worker criteria
Insurance Assistant positions typically qualify under EB-3 as skilled workers when they require at least two years of training or experience. Review the O*NET occupation profile for Insurance Assistants to confirm the skill and education benchmarks your job description must meet.
Find green-card-sponsoring insurance employers on Migrate Mate
Filter insurance roles by green card sponsorship history on Migrate Mate to target employers who have already navigated PERM for similar positions, which significantly shortens your research time and improves your odds of finding a willing sponsor.
Negotiate sponsorship commitment before accepting an offer
Ask the employer to confirm in writing that they will initiate PERM after your probationary period ends. PERM timelines currently run 12 to 18 months for DOL analyst review, so an early written commitment protects you from sponsorship promises that never materialize.
Understand how your current visa status affects filing timing
Your employer can file PERM while you are in valid H-1B, OPT, or other nonimmigrant status. USCIS allows concurrent I-140 filing once PERM is certified, so aligning your visa expiration with the expected PERM completion date reduces gaps in authorized work status.

Find Insurance Assistant JobsInsurance Assistant Green Card Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does an Insurance Assistant role qualify for EB-2 or EB-3 sponsorship?
Most Insurance Assistant positions qualify under EB-3 as skilled workers, requiring at least two years of training or experience. EB-2 is available if the role genuinely requires an advanced degree, which is uncommon for this title. Your employer's PERM job description determines the category, so the duties and minimum requirements listed in that document matter more than your personal credentials.
How does green card sponsorship differ from H-1B for an Insurance Assistant?
H-1B requires a specialty occupation degree nexus and subjects you to an annual lottery with an 85,000-cap constraint. EB-3 green card sponsorship through PERM has no annual cap for most nationalities and leads to permanent residency rather than a renewable temporary status. The trade-off is timeline: PERM plus I-140 adjudication typically takes two to three years before an immigrant visa becomes available for most countries of birth.
What documents should I prepare before asking an employer to sponsor my green card?
Compile your foreign educational transcripts with a credential evaluation, any U.S. state insurance licensing certificates, and documentation of at least two years of relevant work experience. PERM requires the employer to advertise the role at the prevailing wage set by DOL, so having your experience clearly documented helps the employer write a defensible minimum requirements section that matches your actual background.
How do I find Insurance Assistant employers willing to sponsor a green card?
Search Migrate Mate and filter by employment-based green card sponsorship to identify insurance carriers, brokerages, and third-party administrators that have previously filed PERM or I-140 petitions for similar roles. Targeting employers with prior sponsorship history reduces the risk of a company declining after an offer because they are unfamiliar with the PERM process or its cost.
Can my employer start the PERM process while I am on OPT or H-1B status?
Yes. PERM is an employer-driven DOL process that runs independently of your nonimmigrant visa status. Your employer can begin labor certification while you hold OPT, H-1B, or most other valid statuses. Once PERM is certified, your employer files the I-140 immigrant petition with USCIS, and you can pursue adjustment of status or consular processing based on your priority date and country of birth.
