Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Green Card Sponsorship as a Senior Solutions Engineer
Document your technical specialization before applying
Gather transcripts, certifications, and performance reviews that tie your engineering background to pre-sales or solutions architecture work. PERM audits frequently demand proof that your qualifications match the job requirements exactly, not just broadly.
Target employers with established PERM filing history
Use the OFLC Wage Search to confirm prospective employers have filed PERM applications for solutions engineering roles before. A company that has navigated the process once is far less likely to stall or abandon your petition mid-process.
Search green card sponsoring roles on Migrate Mate
Migrate Mate filters Senior Solutions Engineer openings by employers actively sponsoring employment-based green cards, saving you the manual work of vetting each company's PERM history before your first interview.
Clarify the EB tier during offer negotiations
Ask whether the employer intends to sponsor under EB-2 or EB-3 before signing. EB-2 requires proving the role demands an advanced degree, while EB-3 covers bachelor's-level positions and can move faster for some nationalities given current priority date backlogs.
Verify the prevailing wage before PERM is filed
PERM requires DOL to certify your offered salary meets the prevailing wage for your job zone and location. Solutions engineers often sit at Wage Level III or IV, so confirm your offer letter reflects those figures or your employer may need to renegotiate before filing.
Understand how PERM recruitment timing affects your start date
DOL requires employers to complete a formal recruitment period, typically spanning several weeks, before submitting the PERM application. Factor this into your transition timeline when leaving a current role, especially if you're on a work visa with a fixed expiration.
Green Card Senior Solutions Engineer: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Senior Solutions Engineer role typically qualify for EB-2 or EB-3 sponsorship?
Most Senior Solutions Engineer positions qualify for EB-3 sponsorship because they require at least a bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field. If your employer can demonstrate the role requires an advanced degree or your credentials meet the EB-2 threshold for advanced-degree professionals, EB-2 filing is also possible. Your employer's immigration counsel determines the appropriate category based on the job description and your qualifications.
How does green card sponsorship differ from H-1B for this role?
An H-1B visa authorizes temporary work for up to six years with extensions possible during a pending green card petition. PERM-based green card sponsorship is permanent residency, not a temporary status, and EB-3 has no annual lottery. The trade-off is timeline: PERM, I-140, and adjustment of status together take several years, and nationals from high-demand countries face priority date backlogs that can extend that significantly.
How can I find Senior Solutions Engineer jobs where the employer will sponsor a green card?
Most job postings don't clearly state whether the employer will sponsor PERM. Migrate Mate filters roles specifically by employers with active employment-based green card sponsorship history, so you can target companies that have actually filed PERM applications for solutions engineering positions rather than discovering the limitation after an offer is extended.
What does the PERM process look like for a Senior Solutions Engineer specifically?
Your employer files a PERM application with DOL after completing a mandatory recruitment period to demonstrate no qualified U.S. worker is available for the role. For technical roles like solutions engineering, job requirements must match the PERM application exactly. After DOL certifies the PERM, your employer files an I-140 petition with USCIS, and you or a family member may apply to adjust status once a visa number becomes available.
Can I change jobs while my green card petition is pending?
Once your I-140 is approved and your priority date becomes current, portability rules under AC21 allow you to transfer your petition to a new employer offering a similar role without restarting the PERM process. Before I-140 approval, changing employers typically requires your new employer to begin the PERM process from scratch, which is why timing your job search carefully matters early in the sponsorship process.
