Green Card Mechanical Technician Jobs
Mechanical Technician roles qualify for EB-3 skilled worker sponsorship, and strong candidates with an associate degree plus documented hands-on experience may also qualify under EB-2. Employers initiate PERM labor certification before filing your I-140 petition, making sponsorship a multi-step process that leads to permanent residency.

Manager, Mechanical Design - NPD
Needham, MA
Our mission is to positively impact people's lives every day, in every home around the world. That means our employees get to be thinkers and tinkerers, designers and doers, creators and number crunchers — makers of things they love. As we grow, we're excited to add a Manager, Mechanical Design - NPD to our global team.
The Role
You'll lead part of our growing NPD team, building the next generation of innovative Ninja products. This is a front-end role: you'll own the technology and feasibility phase of product creation, bringing technical substance and inspiration to our creative efforts and shaping our Motorized product roadmap with credible, buildable solutions.
Think complete system innovations that sit between the physical (mechanical) and the system (sensors, software, batteries, connectivity).
Own the front end of the Motorized roadmap. Use ideation and innovation techniques to unlock and drive the roadmap alongside engineering and cross-functional PD, ID, Brand, and Test Kitchen teams across the US, UK, and China.
Fail fast, learn faster. Drive ideas to a conclusion early via functional rigs before handing part or complete solution packages to the back-end implementation AD team.
Get hands-on. Tinker on both short- and long-term projects, building POC (Proof of Concept) rigs to prove out hypotheses. Manage the hands-on work of prototype building and lab testing, then develop and report findings with clear next steps.
Communicate ideas fast. Sketching, CAD layouts, 3D models, and working prototypes to evaluate potential solutions.
Run design and engineering studies — independently and in teams — to solve technical and consumer problems, with user experience front of mind at every stage.
Keep the consumer at the center. Collaborate seamlessly with our global AD and CI teams so front-end, consumer-focused sensibilities drive our direction and carry all the way through development to 5-star products.
Coach and grow the team. Actively support and encourage your colleagues — especially junior team members — and motivate them to identify, solve, implement, and verify technical solutions autonomously.
Juggle well. Balance, prioritize, and drive multiple workflows and additional responsibilities against fast-paced schedules and deadlines.
What You'll Bring
Experience & Education
- Degree-level technical qualification — ideally Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or Industrial Design with a focus on engineering principles
- Typically 6–10 years of proven experience in a Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Product Design, or Industrial Design environment
- Consumer goods / household appliance experience desirable
- Experience with plastic, casting, and sheet metal manufacturing processes
- Experience working with IP teams to track prior art and identify novel or inventive solutions within an AD/R&D team
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in SolidWorks or Creo
- Ability to identify, solve, implement, and verify technical solutions autonomously and as part of a team
- Comfortable operating in the lab (with training): building prototypes, testing products, and reporting results
- An all-rounder's appreciation for electrical engineering, software, and mechanical principles. UX design appreciation is helpful but not essential
How You Work
- Flexible, resilient, and persevering, with a positive attitude and entrepreneurial nature — these are key to success at SharkNinja
- A collaborator who isn't afraid to fail fast, learn, and pivot
- Positive and driving, with an inquisitive nature
- Strong judgment: knowing which problems to solve, how to make daily progress, and why iterating to prove out hypotheses matters
- A growth mindset — you proactively build your own skills and actively seek out coaching from others
- Keen to contribute to internal working groups beyond your core role to improve processes, working environment, and mindset

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Green Card Sponsorship as a Mechanical Technician
Document your technical certifications before applying
PERM requires your employer to verify you meet the minimum job requirements at the time of filing. Gather your trade certifications, equipment-specific training records, and any journeyman credentials now so delays don't stall your labor certification.
Target manufacturers enrolled in E-Verify
Employers already using E-Verify have cleared a baseline compliance hurdle and are more familiar with federal hiring rules. Focus your search on manufacturing facilities, aerospace contractors, and industrial maintenance firms with documented federal contract work.
Use Migrate Mate to find sponsoring employers
Search Migrate Mate to identify Mechanical Technician roles at employers with active green card filing history. Filtering by EB-3 sponsorship saves you from applying to companies that have never run a PERM case for this occupation.
Clarify the PERM wage tier before accepting an offer
DOL assigns your role to a prevailing wage level using the OFLC Wage Search. If your offered wage falls below Level II for your region, your employer's PERM application faces audit risk, so confirm the wage tier aligns before signing an offer letter.
Request a clear sponsorship timeline in your offer
Ask your prospective employer to specify when they'll file the PERM application relative to your start date. PERM recruitment and DOL review alone can take 12 to 18 months, and knowing the projected I-140 filing window helps you plan your status accordingly.
Verify your O*NET job zone matches the posted role
USCIS and DOL both rely on O*NET classifications when evaluating whether a Mechanical Technician role qualifies under EB-3 skilled worker or requires an advanced degree for EB-2. Confirm the employer's job description aligns with the O*NET occupation profile before the PERM is filed.
Green Card Mechanical Technician: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Mechanical Technician role qualify for EB-3 green card sponsorship?
Yes. Mechanical Technician positions typically qualify under the EB-3 skilled worker category, which covers roles requiring at least two years of training or experience. Your employer must complete PERM labor certification with DOL before filing the I-140 petition with USCIS. Candidates holding an advanced degree or equivalent specialized experience may also qualify under EB-2.
How does EB-3 green card sponsorship differ from H-1B sponsorship for this role?
H-1B visa requires a bachelor's degree and is subject to an annual lottery cap, meaning your petition may not be selected even if you qualify. EB-3 has no lottery and leads directly to permanent residency rather than a temporary status. The tradeoff is timeline: PERM labor certification, I-140 approval, and priority date availability can add one to three years before you receive your green card, depending on your country of birth.
How long does the PERM process take for a Mechanical Technician?
Standard PERM processing at DOL currently runs six to eighteen months, though cases selected for audit can extend beyond two years. After PERM certification, your employer files Form I-140 with USCIS. If your priority date is current, you can then file Form I-485 to adjust status. Most workers from countries without significant backlogs complete the full process in two to four years.
Where can I find Mechanical Technician jobs that offer green card sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search. You can filter by EB-3 sponsorship history and Mechanical Technician job titles to find employers who have previously sponsored workers through the PERM process. This filters out listings where sponsorship is theoretically possible but the employer has no practical experience running a green card case for technical roles.
Can my employer sponsor me for a green card if I'm currently on a different visa status?
Yes. You don't need to be in H-1B status to receive EB-3 sponsorship. Workers on F-1 OPT, H-2B visa, TN visa, or other statuses can be sponsored through PERM. Your current visa status affects when and how you file Form I-485 to adjust status, but it doesn't disqualify you from the PERM or I-140 stages of the green card process.
