Green Card Senior Devops Engineer Jobs
Senior DevOps Engineer roles qualify for EB-2 or EB-3 green card sponsorship through the PERM labor certification process, which requires your employer to document that no qualified U.S. workers are available. Cloud infrastructure, CI/CD pipeline expertise, and platform engineering skills all support a strong specialty occupation case for permanent residency.

INTRODUCTION
The Info Apps DevOps team provides the infrastructure backbone for Apple News, Stocks, Weather, and Apple Creator Studio, powering experiences used by millions of users worldwide and fueling capabilities like Siri AI's World Knowledge Answers. This team owns CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure automation, developer tooling, and operational support for large-scale backend systems deployed across hybrid cloud environments. Join us to shape how software is built, deployed, and scaled across some of Apple's most beloved consumer products.
DESCRIPTION
In this role, you will design and build infrastructure that serves millions of concurrent users across multi-cloud and on-premises environments, with a primary focus on development tooling, deployment automation, and CI/CD pipeline improvements. You will partner closely with engineering and SRE teams to architect scalable solutions using Kubernetes, AWS, and GitOps workflows. Day-to-day work is roughly 70% automation and tooling development and 30% operational support, giving you deep hands-on ownership across the full software delivery lifecycle.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and continuously improve CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, ArgoCD, and GitOps principles to accelerate delivery across News, Stocks, Weather, and Apple Creator Studio
- Manage and scale large Kubernetes deployments on EKS and on-premises clusters, handling provisioning, upgrades, and complex troubleshooting
- Develop custom internal tooling and automation scripts in Python, Bash, Groovy or Java to measurably improve developer productivity and deployment reliability
- Architect and maintain Infrastructure as Code solutions using Terraform and/or Pulumi across AWS and Apple-managed environments
- Leverage AWS services including EKS, S3, ElastiCache, SNS/SQS, and SageMaker to support scalable, distributed backend systems
- Partner with engineering and SRE teams to define deployment standards, drive software version upgrades, and resolve system and application issues across environments
- Monitor infrastructure health and contribute to operational support, ensuring high availability for consumer-facing products with millions of active users
- Evaluate and help adopt new cloud technologies and platform strategies as the team expands beyond current environments
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of experience in a DevOps or infrastructure-focused engineering role, including work on systems at large scale (millions of concurrent users)
- Expert-level proficiency with Kubernetes and container orchestration, including deployment, lifecycle management, and troubleshooting on EKS or equivalent managed Kubernetes platforms
- Advanced scripting skills in Python, Bash, Groovy or Java, applied to automation workflows and custom tool development
- Deep expertise in CI/CD systems including ArgoCD, Jenkins, and Gradle/Maven, paired with advanced Git and GitOps workflow experience
- Proven experience managing cloud platforms (AWS and/or GCP), covering compute, networking, storage, and managed services
- Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, Pulumi, or CloudFormation to manage resources and build reusable abstractions
- Solid understanding of Linux operating systems, shell scripting, and core networking concepts including TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP, and load balancing
- Demonstrated ability to debug complex distributed systems and solve ambiguous infrastructure problems under production conditions
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Familiarity with Generative AI concepts and experience supporting AI/ML development environments, model operationalization, or platforms such as SageMaker
- Experience maintaining and debugging Spring-based Java runtime environments in a DevOps or platform engineering context
- Strong background in modern web services architectures including REST APIs, microservices, and service mesh patterns
- Proficiency with data infrastructure components such as Cassandra, Kafka, Solr, Postgres, or Redis in a large-scale backend environment
- Track record of working closely with product engineering and SRE teams to define and enforce deployment standards across multi-team organizations

Translate your infrastructure skills into PERM documentation
PERM requires your employer to define a specific minimum education requirement for the role. Make sure your offer letter and job description specify your degree field, because a generic 'bachelor's in computer science or related field' weakens the specialty occupation argument at the I-140 stage.
Target employers with active PERM filing histories
Search the OFLC public disclosure data for companies that have filed PERM applications under SOC code 15-1244 (Network and Computer Systems Administrators) or 15-1252 (Software Developers). Employers with recent filings already have internal processes for sponsoring DevOps roles.
Find green card sponsoring DevOps roles on Migrate Mate
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by green card sponsorship availability, so you aren't sifting through roles where PERM is never offered. Use it to identify Senior DevOps Engineer positions at employers already set up to file.
Distinguish EB-2 versus EB-3 eligibility before accepting an offer
If you hold a master's degree or a bachelor's plus five years of progressive DevOps experience, push for an EB-2 filing. EB-2 can mean a shorter priority date wait for nationals of most countries and skips the supervised recruitment period that extends EB-3 timelines.
Negotiate who controls the PERM job description
During offer negotiation, confirm that your employer's immigration counsel will tailor the PERM job description to your actual role, not a recycled template. Overly broad descriptions that don't reflect specialized DevOps duties such as Kubernetes orchestration or infrastructure-as-code increase the risk of a DOL audit.
Audit your prevailing wage tier before PERM is filed
DOL assigns your PERM a Wage Level I through IV based on the job description complexity. Ask your employer to share the prevailing wage determination and verify it matches your offered salary using the OFLC Wage Search before submission, since a mismatch triggers denial.
Green Card Senior Devops Engineer: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Senior DevOps Engineer role qualify for EB-2 or EB-3?
It qualifies for both, and the tier depends on how the employer frames the job requirements. EB-2 applies if the role requires a master's degree or a bachelor's plus five years of progressive experience. EB-3 covers roles requiring at least a bachelor's degree. Most employers file under EB-3 because the job description is easier to defend at audit, but EB-2 can be faster for nationals of countries without significant backlogs.
How does PERM green card sponsorship differ from H-1B for this role?
H-1B visa is a temporary status with a three-year initial period, annual lottery selection, and no path to permanence by itself. PERM is the first step toward lawful permanent residency, has no annual cap at the EB-3 level for most nationalities, and does not require lottery selection. The tradeoff is timeline: PERM labor certification alone takes roughly six to eighteen months before the I-140 petition is even filed.
Where can I find Senior DevOps Engineer jobs that include green card sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search. It surfaces Senior DevOps Engineer listings from employers that have indicated willingness to sponsor employment-based green cards, so you're not spending time on applications where PERM sponsorship was never on the table. Filtering by sponsorship type upfront saves weeks of back-and-forth with recruiters.
What happens to my PERM case if I change employers mid-process?
If you leave before USCIS approves your I-140, the PERM labor certification is tied to the original employer and cannot be transferred. Once your I-140 is approved and your priority date has been pending for 180 days or more, portability rules under AC21 allow you to move to a same or similar DevOps role with a new employer without restarting the process.
Can my employer file PERM while I'm on H-1B status?
Yes, and many DevOps professionals pursue both simultaneously. Holding H-1B status does not affect your PERM eligibility, and filing early extends your options if H-1B renewals become complicated. USCIS processes the I-140 petition after DOL certifies the PERM application, and you can remain on H-1B status while both stages are pending.
