Green Card Solution Engineer Jobs
Solution Engineer roles qualify for EB-2 and EB-3 green card sponsorship when the position requires a bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field. Your employer files a PERM labor certification with DOL before petitioning USCIS, starting a process that leads to permanent U.S. residency rather than a temporary status.

Map your degree to the role
PERM requires your degree field to match the Solution Engineer job duties. A computer science or systems engineering degree aligns cleanly, but an unrelated major needs documented coursework or experience equivalencies before your employer files.
Target employers with active PERM history
Software vendors, cloud infrastructure firms, and enterprise SaaS companies file PERM for Solution Engineers regularly. Search OFLC disclosure data by SOC code 15-1299 to identify employers who have recently certified roles at your target seniority level.
Find green card sponsoring jobs on Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to filter Solution Engineer openings by employers with active EB-2 and EB-3 sponsorship history. Seeing a company's past PERM filings before you apply tells you whether sponsorship is a realistic outcome at that firm.
Verify your prevailing wage tier early
Use the OFLC Wage Search to look up the prevailing wage for Solution Engineer roles in your target metro. Your offered salary must meet or exceed that figure, or USCIS will reject the I-140 petition regardless of how strong your qualifications are.
Clarify sponsorship timing before accepting an offer
Ask whether the employer starts PERM immediately after your H-1B visa approval or waits until year two or three. Earlier filing means an earlier priority date, which matters significantly if you're from a backlogged country like India or China.
Understand how EB-3 avoids the annual cap problem
Unlike H-1B, EB-3 sponsorship has no lottery, so your employer can initiate PERM at any time. For nationals of most countries outside India and China, visa numbers are available without a multi-year backlog once USCIS approves the I-140.
Green Card Solution Engineer: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Solution Engineer role qualify for EB-2 or EB-3 green card sponsorship?
Most Solution Engineer positions qualify for EB-3 as skilled worker roles requiring at least a bachelor's degree. If the job description specifies an advanced degree or the employer can demonstrate the role requires graduate-level expertise, EB-2 may apply. The determining factor is how the employer defines the minimum requirements in the PERM application, not the candidate's actual credentials.
How is green card sponsorship different from H-1B for Solution Engineers?
H-1B is a temporary status renewed every three years with no path to permanency on its own. PERM-based green card sponsorship leads to lawful permanent residency. There is no annual lottery for employment-based green cards the way there is for H-1B, and EB-3 sponsorship can begin at any point during the year. The tradeoff is a longer overall timeline, often two to four years from PERM filing to adjustment of status approval.
What does the PERM labor certification process involve for a Solution Engineer employer?
PERM requires the employer to conduct a supervised recruitment process demonstrating that no qualified U.S. worker is available for the role. DOL audits a percentage of applications and can request documentation. The employer must offer at least the prevailing wage for the Solution Engineer position in that location, which you can verify independently using the OFLC Wage Search before negotiations.
How can I find Solution Engineer jobs that include green card sponsorship?
Migrate Mate lets you search Solution Engineer roles filtered by employers with confirmed EB-2 and EB-3 PERM filing history. Knowing a company has sponsored comparable roles before is a stronger signal than a job posting that simply says sponsorship is available, which often refers to H-1B rather than a green card.
Can I switch employers after my Solution Engineer PERM is filed?
Once your I-140 petition is approved and your priority date is established, you gain portability rights under AC21 if your I-485 has been pending for at least 180 days. You can move to a same or similar Solution Engineer role at a new employer without losing your priority date, but the new employer does not need to refile PERM. Consult an immigration attorney before making any job change during the adjustment process.
