Surveyor Green Card Jobs
Surveyor roles in land development, construction, and infrastructure qualify for employment-based green card sponsorship under EB-2 and EB-3, with employers filing PERM labor certification through DOL before petitioning USCIS. Licensing requirements and specialized fieldwork credentials shape how employers build sponsorship cases for foreign survey professionals.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Green Card Sponsorship in Surveyor
Align your credentials with PERM requirements
PERM requires your employer to document that no qualified U.S. worker is available for your specific role. Gather your surveying license, degree transcripts, and any state licensure equivalency letters before outreach so employers can assess your case quickly.
Target employers with active infrastructure contracts
Civil engineering and land surveying firms holding federal or state infrastructure contracts frequently sponsor foreign workers due to persistent workforce gaps. Search for employers with active DOL-certified LCA filings in geospatial or survey-related SOC codes to confirm prior sponsorship activity.
Verify your state license transfers before filing
Most surveyor green card petitions require a Professional Land Surveyor license. Check whether your foreign credentials qualify for NCEES reciprocity or if you need additional examination before your employer can define the job requirements in the PERM application.
Use Migrate Mate to find sponsoring employers
Search Migrate Mate to identify survey and geospatial employers with documented green card sponsorship history. Filtering by EB-2 and EB-3 filings narrows your list to firms already familiar with the PERM and I-140 process for technical roles.
Negotiate job duties to match the PERM job description
USCIS requires your actual duties at time of green card approval to match the certified PERM job description. Confirm with your employer that the offered role description reflects your long-term position, not just your initial assignment, to avoid RFE issues at the I-140 stage.
Understand EB-3 priority dates before accepting an offer
For most countries outside India and China, EB-3 priority dates for skilled workers are current or close to current, meaning your green card timeline is driven by PERM and I-140 processing rather than a visa backlog. Confirm your country's cutoff date in the monthly Visa Bulletin before committing to a timeline with your employer.

Find Surveyor JobsSurveyor Green Card Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Do surveyor roles qualify for EB-2 or EB-3 green card sponsorship?
Surveyor positions typically qualify under EB-3 as skilled workers when the role requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent plus a Professional Land Surveyor license. EB-2 sponsorship is available if the position requires an advanced degree or if the candidate holds specialized credentials that justify an elevated classification. Your employer's attorney structures the PERM job requirements to match the appropriate category.
How does the green card process for surveyors differ from H-1B sponsorship?
The H-1B is a temporary nonimmigrant visa capped at 85,000 annually and subject to lottery selection, while the EB-3 green card leads to permanent residency with no annual lottery. PERM labor certification adds several months to the timeline, but for most countries outside India and China there is no significant EB-3 visa backlog, so the total wait is primarily processing time rather than queue position.
What does the PERM labor certification process require for a surveyor role?
Your employer must conduct a supervised DOL recruitment campaign demonstrating no qualified U.S. worker is available for the specific surveyor position. This includes advertising the role at the prevailing wage determined through the OFLC Wage Search. Only after DOL certifies the PERM application can your employer file the I-140 immigrant petition on your behalf.
How can I find surveyor employers who sponsor green cards?
Use Migrate Mate to search for civil engineering and land surveying firms with verified EB-2 and EB-3 sponsorship history. Focusing on employers with prior PERM filings in geospatial or survey-related roles shortens your search significantly, since firms already familiar with the process are far more likely to commit to sponsoring a foreign candidate.
Does my foreign surveying license affect the PERM or I-140 application?
Yes. The PERM job description must reflect actual minimum requirements, and if the role requires a U.S. state Professional Land Surveyor license, USCIS will expect you to obtain it before or shortly after approval. If you hold a foreign credential, your employer may need a credential evaluation or NCEES equivalency determination to document that your qualifications meet the certified job requirements.
