Align your credentials to PERM requirements
Your degree and job title must match the PERM-certified job description exactly. A mismatch between your foreign credential evaluation and the role's stated education requirement is one of the most common reasons PERM audits are triggered for technical management roles.
Target employers with EB-3 filing history
Delivery lead roles rarely self-petition, so your employer's willingness to run PERM matters more than the role itself. Prioritize organizations that have filed EB-2 or EB-3 petitions for similar project or program management titles in recent DOL disclosure cycles.
Search green card roles using Migrate Mate
Filter by Technical Delivery Lead or adjacent titles like Delivery Manager on Migrate Mate to find employers actively sponsoring EB-2 and EB-3 green cards. This narrows your search to companies that have already committed to the PERM process for comparable roles.
Clarify the EB tier before accepting an offer
Ask whether the role is slotted for EB-2 or EB-3 sponsorship during offer negotiation, not after signing. EB-2 typically requires a master's degree or equivalent, while EB-3 covers bachelor's-level professionals, and the tier affects your priority date and wait time significantly.
Verify your prevailing wage category early
PERM requires your employer to pay at least the DOL prevailing wage for your location and job zone. Use the OFLC Wage Search to look up Technical Delivery Lead wage levels before your employer files, so a Level I determination doesn't undercut your actual compensation.
Document cross-functional scope for I-140 strength
Technical Delivery Leads who manage both engineering and business stakeholders build a stronger I-140 petition. Compile evidence of your delivery scope, team size, and project complexity now, since USCIS adjudicators weigh this documentation when evaluating EB-2 advanced-degree professional petitions.
Green Card Technical Delivery Lead: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Technical Delivery Lead role qualify for EB-2 or EB-3 sponsorship?
Most Technical Delivery Lead positions qualify for EB-3 if they require a bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field. EB-2 eligibility applies when the role specifically requires a master's degree or when you can demonstrate the equivalent through a combination of education and progressive experience, subject to USCIS review of the petition.
How does green card sponsorship differ from H-1B for this role?
PERM-based green card sponsorship leads to permanent residency rather than a temporary visa with renewal cycles. There's no annual lottery for EB-3 petitions the way there is for H-1B visa registrations, and once your priority date is current, the path to an I-485 adjustment of status is fixed. The tradeoff is that PERM processing alone often takes 12 to 18 months before the I-140 is even filed.
Can I switch jobs after my employer starts the green card process?
You can change employers without losing your place in the green card queue if your I-140 has been approved for more than 180 days and the new role is in the same or a similar occupational classification. For Technical Delivery Leads, moving to a comparable delivery or program management title at a new sponsor generally satisfies that portability requirement under AC21 rules.
Where can I find employers sponsoring green cards for Technical Delivery Lead roles?
Migrate Mate lets you search specifically for Technical Delivery Lead and related titles filtered by employers with active EB-2 or EB-3 green card sponsorship history. This saves you from applying broadly and discovering late in the process that a company won't run PERM for your title or level.
How long does the full EB-3 green card process take for a Technical Delivery Lead?
For nationals from countries without significant backlogs, the full EB-3 process from PERM filing to an approved I-485 typically runs two to four years. PERM recruitment and DOL certification can take 12 to 18 months on its own. Nationals from India or China face significantly longer waits due to per-country annual limits under current visa bulletin priority dates.
