Verify your degree aligns with PERM requirements
PERM job descriptions must specify an educational requirement tied to the role. Your degree in supply chain management, industrial engineering, or operations research should match the employer's stated minimum qualifications exactly, or USCIS may issue a Request for Evidence during I-140 adjudication.
Target employers with active PERM filing history
Large manufacturers, retailers, and logistics firms file PERM applications regularly for analyst roles. Search DOL disclosure data filtered by SOC code 13-1081 to identify employers who have sponsored Supply Chain Analyst positions before, not just companies that mention sponsorship in job postings.
Search green card jobs using Migrate Mate
Migrate Mate lets you filter Supply Chain Analyst openings by employers with documented PERM and I-140 sponsorship history. This cuts out postings from companies that mention visa support but have never filed for permanent residency on behalf of an employee.
Confirm the prevailing wage tier before negotiating
Use the OFLC Wage Search to look up the prevailing wage for Supply Chain Analyst positions in your target metro area before you negotiate an offer. Your offered salary must meet or exceed the DOL-certified wage level, or the LCA and PERM filings cannot proceed.
Ask about concurrent filing eligibility during the offer stage
If your priority date is current when the employer files the I-140, you may be able to file Form I-485 adjustment of status at the same time. Raise this with the employer's immigration counsel before signing, since concurrent filing significantly shortens your path to a green card.
Document your supply chain credentials for the EB-2 track
EB-2 requires proof of an advanced degree or its equivalent. Gather transcripts, professional certifications like APICS CSCP or CLTD, and letters from supervisors detailing specialized duties. Strong documentation reduces the chance of a USCIS Request for Evidence after the I-140 is filed.
Green Card Supply Chain Analyst: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Supply Chain Analyst role qualify for EB-2 or EB-3 green card sponsorship?
Both categories are available depending on your credentials. EB-2 applies if the employer requires a master's degree or if you hold a bachelor's degree plus five or more years of progressive experience in supply chain or operations. EB-3 covers roles where the employer's minimum requirement is a bachelor's degree. The employer's PERM job description defines which category applies, so the stated educational requirement matters.
How does PERM green card sponsorship differ from H-1B sponsorship for this role?
H-1B visa is a temporary work authorization renewed in three-year increments, and cap-subject petitions compete in an annual lottery. PERM-based green card sponsorship has no annual lottery and leads to permanent residency. The process takes longer overall, since the employer must complete a supervised DOL recruitment period before filing the I-140, but the outcome is lawful permanent resident status rather than a renewable nonimmigrant visa.
How long does the PERM and green card process typically take for a Supply Chain Analyst?
PERM labor certification at DOL currently takes between one and two years depending on whether the application is audited. After PERM approval, USCIS I-140 adjudication adds six to twelve months under standard processing. Applicants from countries with retrogressed priority dates, such as India or China, may then wait years for a visa number to become available. Workers born in other countries often reach the I-485 stage within three to four years of starting the process.
Where can I find Supply Chain Analyst jobs that actually sponsor green cards?
Migrate Mate filters job listings by employers with verified PERM and I-140 filing history, so you can focus on companies that have completed the sponsorship process for similar roles rather than those that only mention visa support in their postings. Searching by SOC code 13-1081 in DOL disclosure data is another way to identify employers who have filed PERM applications specifically for Supply Chain Analyst positions.
Can my employer start the PERM process while I'm on H-1B status?
Yes. Employers commonly begin PERM while you're working on H-1B. Filing the I-140 before your sixth year of H-1B status allows you to extend H-1B in one-year increments under AC21 once the I-140 is approved and a visa number isn't yet available. Starting PERM early is especially useful for nationals from backlogged countries, since priority dates can take years to become current.
