Green Card Truck Driver Jobs
Truck Driver roles qualify for EB-3 green card sponsorship when employers complete PERM labor certification through DOL, proving no qualified U.S. workers are available. Commercial driving experience, a valid CDL, and a clean safety record strengthen your sponsorship case. Some specialized freight or hazmat roles may also meet EB-2 criteria.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Green Card Sponsorship as a Truck Driver
Verify your CDL class before applying
PERM applications list the exact license class the role requires. Confirm your foreign commercial license is transferable to a U.S. CDL before an employer opens a PERM case, or you risk disqualifying yourself mid-process.
Target carriers enrolled in E-Verify
Trucking companies enrolled in E-Verify are already set up for employment eligibility compliance, which correlates with willingness to run PERM sponsorship. Filter your job search to carriers advertising immigration support or legal employment authorization.
Search green card sponsoring employers on Migrate Mate
Migrate Mate lets you filter specifically for Truck Driver roles at employers with active green card sponsorship history, cutting out the guesswork of cold-applying to fleets that have never filed a PERM case.
Understand the PERM prevailing wage before negotiating
DOL sets your minimum offer salary through the OFLC Wage Search before your employer files. Accepting an offer below that wage level will cause your PERM to fail, so confirm the prevailing wage for your specific route region and freight type.
Document all foreign driving hours and endorsements
PERM requires your employer to prove you meet the advertised requirements. Gather official records of your commercial driving hours, vehicle classes, hazmat endorsements, and any safety certifications so your employer can document your qualifications accurately.
Ask employers about concurrent I-140 and adjustment filing
Once your PERM is certified, your employer files the I-140 immigrant petition with USCIS. If your priority date is current, you can file for adjustment of status at the same time, letting you work on a pending green card while the application is processed.
Green Card Truck Driver: Frequently Asked Questions
Can a Truck Driver role qualify for an employment-based green card?
Yes. Truck Driver positions qualify under the EB-3 skilled worker category when the role requires at least two years of training or experience, such as holding a valid CDL with relevant endorsements. Your employer sponsors the green card by completing PERM labor certification with DOL, then filing an I-140 petition with USCIS on your behalf.
How does the green card process differ from H-1B sponsorship for Truck Drivers?
H-1B visa requires a specialty occupation tied to a bachelor's degree, which most Truck Driver roles do not meet, making H-1B essentially unavailable for this job title. EB-3 green card sponsorship through PERM has no annual lottery and leads to permanent residency rather than a temporary status. The tradeoff is a longer overall timeline, typically two to four years or more depending on your country of birth.
How do I find Truck Driver employers willing to sponsor a green card?
Start with Migrate Mate, which filters Truck Driver job listings by employers with documented green card sponsorship history. Not all carriers advertise sponsorship openly, so searching by PERM filing activity is more reliable than relying on job postings alone. Focus on large regional carriers, logistics companies, and freight operators that regularly hire internationally.
What does the PERM labor certification process involve for a Truck Driver role?
Your employer must advertise the position through DOL-required recruitment steps and demonstrate that no qualified U.S. workers applied. If that test is satisfied, DOL certifies the PERM application. The employer then files an I-140 with USCIS. The process typically takes six months to over a year before you can move to the adjustment of status or consular processing stage.
Does my foreign commercial driving license count toward PERM eligibility?
Foreign commercial licenses can be used to document your qualifications in your PERM application, but you will need a valid U.S. CDL before you begin employment. Most states allow foreign nationals with valid status to convert or test for a CDL. Your employer's PERM filing must list the license class the job genuinely requires, and your credentials must match that requirement on paper.
