Green Card Technician Jobs
Technician roles in manufacturing, engineering, and healthcare labs regularly qualify for EB-2 and EB-3 green card sponsorship through PERM labor certification. Employers file on your behalf, documenting that no qualified U.S. worker is available for the position. Finding companies with active PERM filing history is the first step toward permanent residency sponsorship.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Green Card Sponsorship as a Technician
Match your credentials to EB-3 requirements
EB-3 skilled worker classification requires at least two years of training or experience in your technician specialty. Document certifications, apprenticeships, and employer letters now so your PERM file reflects the role's actual requirements when your sponsor submits.
Target employers with PERM filing history
Search DOL PERM disclosure data filtered by SOC codes for your technician specialty. Employers who have filed PERM for similar roles already understand the recruitment advertising steps and prevailing-wage obligations, reducing delays caused by employer unfamiliarity.
Verify your prevailing wage before negotiating
Use OFLC Wage Search to look up the prevailing wage for your technician job title and worksite location before you negotiate an offer. Your employer must pay at least that wage for the PERM to pass DOL review.
Use Migrate Mate to find sponsoring employers
Search Migrate Mate to identify companies that have sponsored green cards for technician roles. Filtering by PERM history lets you focus applications on employers already equipped to navigate the filing process rather than educating a new sponsor.
Ask about concurrent EB-3 and I-485 filing
If your priority date is current when USCIS approves your I-140, you can file adjustment of status concurrently. Confirm with your sponsoring employer early whether their counsel plans to use concurrent filing, since timing affects how long you remain tied to that job.
Understand how job duties affect your PERM description
DOL scrutinizes PERM job descriptions for technician roles closely. If your actual duties expand beyond the certified description after approval, your green card can be jeopardized. Review the final PERM job description carefully before your employer submits to DOL.
Green Card Technician: Frequently Asked Questions
Do technician roles qualify for EB-2 or EB-3 green card sponsorship?
Most technician positions qualify under EB-3 as skilled workers, since they typically require at least two years of specialized training or experience rather than an advanced degree. EB-2 is possible for technicians in highly specialized fields if the role genuinely requires a master's degree or equivalent, but EB-3 is the more common path for this occupation category.
How does green card sponsorship through PERM differ from H-1B sponsorship for technician jobs?
PERM leads to permanent residency rather than a temporary status, so there is no annual cap lottery at the EB-3 level for most nationalities and no two-year or six-year maximum stay. The tradeoff is timeline: PERM labor certification, I-140 approval, and adjustment of status together typically take longer than an H-1B visa approval, often running two or more years before you receive your green card.
What does a technician employer have to prove during the PERM process?
Your sponsoring employer must conduct a DOL-mandated recruitment campaign, including job postings and newspaper advertisements, demonstrating that no qualified U.S. worker applied for the role. The prevailing wage must meet or exceed the OFLC Wage Search figure for your specific technician job title and worksite zip code. If DOL audits the application, the employer must produce documentation of every recruitment step.
How can I find technician employers who already sponsor green cards?
Migrate Mate lets you filter job listings by PERM filing history so you can identify employers who have already sponsored technician roles rather than starting from scratch with an inexperienced sponsor. Focusing on companies with a documented track record shortens your timeline and reduces the risk that an employer will abandon the process midway through PERM.
Can I change employers after my PERM is approved but before I get my green card?
If your I-140 has been approved for at least 180 days and your green card application is pending, portability rules under AC21 allow you to move to a new employer offering a same or similar technician role without losing your priority date. The new position's duties must be substantially similar to those certified in the original PERM description, so document the overlap carefully before making any move.
