Verify your credentials match DOL skill requirements
PERM filings for Assembly Technician roles typically cite SOC code 51-2098 or 51-2099. Pull the O*NET profile for your specific assembly specialty to confirm your documented skills align with what employers list in their PERM job descriptions.
Target manufacturers enrolled in E-Verify
Employers sponsoring foreign workers through PERM must be authorized to hire non-citizens. Prioritize manufacturers and production facilities already enrolled in E-Verify, as they have the compliance infrastructure in place to support a full green card filing.
Search EB-3 assembly jobs through Migrate Mate
Filter your job search to employers with active PERM and I-140 filing history for production and assembly roles. Migrate Mate surfaces green-card-sponsoring employers by job category, so you're not guessing which manufacturers will actually file.
Ask employers about their PERM recruitment timeline
Before accepting an offer, ask whether the company has completed PERM filings before and what their typical recruitment documentation process looks like. Employers unfamiliar with PERM's supervised recruitment requirements often delay filings by six to twelve months.
Check prevailing wage before your offer stage
DOL requires your employer to pay the prevailing wage for your assembly role and location. Use the OFLC Wage Search to look up the Level I through Level IV wage for your SOC code before you negotiate, so you can confirm any offer meets PERM requirements.
Document hands-on technical training for your I-140
EB-3 skilled worker petitions require proof you meet the job's minimum qualifications. Gather certificates from vocational programs, apprenticeships, or employer training records now. USCIS treats undocumented on-the-job training as insufficient without corroborating employer letters or certificates.

Find Assembly Technician JobsAssembly Technician Green Card Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does an Assembly Technician role qualify for an EB-3 green card?
Yes. Assembly Technician positions typically qualify under the EB-3 skilled worker category, which covers roles requiring at least two years of training or experience. Your employer files a PERM labor certification with DOL first, then an I-140 immigrant petition with USCIS. Unlike the H-1B, EB-3 has no annual lottery, though per-country backlogs apply for nationals from heavily oversubscribed countries.
How is EB-3 green card sponsorship different from H-1B for this role?
H-1B requires a specialty occupation with a bachelor's degree requirement, which most Assembly Technician roles don't meet. EB-3 covers skilled workers without a four-year degree requirement, making it the practical path for this title. EB-3 also leads to permanent residency rather than a renewable temporary status, and there's no lottery. The tradeoff is a longer overall timeline, typically two to four years for most nationalities.
What does PERM labor certification involve for assembly roles?
Your employer must conduct a supervised recruitment process proving no qualified U.S. worker is available for your specific position at your worksite. This includes job postings, interviews, and documented rejections of U.S. applicants. The entire PERM recruitment and filing process typically runs six to twelve months before the I-140 petition can even be submitted to USCIS.
How can I find Assembly Technician jobs that offer green card sponsorship?
Most job postings don't advertise PERM sponsorship explicitly, which makes identifying willing employers difficult. Migrate Mate filters Assembly Technician and production roles by employers with documented green card filing history, so you can focus your applications on manufacturers who have already demonstrated willingness to sponsor foreign workers through the full PERM and I-140 process.
Can I switch employers after my green card is filed?
Once your I-140 is approved and your priority date is current or you've been in the adjustment of status queue for 180 days, you may be able to port to a new employer in the same or similar occupational classification under AC21 portability rules. Assembly and production roles within the same SOC code group typically qualify, but you should confirm the new role matches your approved petition before switching.
