Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding H-1B Visa Sponsorship in Regional Account Executive
Align your degree to the role description
H-1B specialty occupation requires a direct connection between your degree field and the Account Executive role. A marketing, business administration, or communications degree strengthens your petition; a mismatch in field invites an RFE from USCIS before your start date.
Target industries with proven LCA history
Enterprise SaaS, medical devices, and financial services companies file LCAs for Regional Account Executive roles far more consistently than retail or hospitality. Use the OFLC Wage Search to verify an employer has certified LCAs under your target SOC code before applying.
Search verified sponsors on Migrate Mate
Migrate Mate surfaces employers with confirmed H-1B filing history for sales and account management roles, so you're not guessing which companies will sponsor. Filter by region and industry to find active openings matched to your territory experience.
Clarify OTE structure before the offer stage
Your H-1B prevailing wage must be met by your guaranteed base salary, not your on-target earnings. If an employer structures heavy compensation as variable commission, confirm the base alone clears the DOL wage level for your work location before the LCA is filed.
Negotiate your start date around the cap timeline
Cap-subject H-1B petitions have an October 1 start date after lottery selection in March. If you're between jobs or on OPT, build your offer negotiation around this window so your employer files the I-129 with enough lead time for premium processing if needed.
Check multi-state territory implications for your LCA
Regional Account Executive roles often cover multiple states, which can trigger additional LCA posting requirements at each worksite. Confirm with your employer's immigration counsel that all client sites or home office arrangements are covered in the certified LCA before you begin work.
H-1B Visa Regional Account Executive: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Regional Account Executive role qualify as an H-1B specialty occupation?
It can, but it depends on how the employer defines the position. USCIS looks for evidence that the role normally requires at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field like business, marketing, or a related discipline. Employers in enterprise software, financial services, and medical devices typically document this requirement clearly, making approval more straightforward than in industries where sales roles are filled without degree requirements.
How does commission-based pay affect my H-1B prevailing wage requirement?
The DOL prevailing wage obligation applies to your guaranteed base salary only. Variable commission, bonuses, and incentive pay don't count toward the required wage level. If an employer's compensation model is heavily commission-weighted, make sure your base salary alone meets or exceeds the DOL wage level for your SOC code and work location, or the LCA won't pass scrutiny.
Which employers sponsor H-1B visas for Regional Account Executive roles?
Employers in enterprise SaaS, healthcare technology, financial services, and industrial equipment tend to sponsor H-1B visas for account executive positions most consistently because their roles require specialized technical or domain knowledge tied to a degree. You can browse employers with verified H-1B filing history for sales and account management roles on Migrate Mate, filtered by industry and territory.
Can I change territories or accounts after my H-1B is approved?
Substantial changes to your work location or job duties can require an amended H-1B petition. Moving from one metropolitan area to another, or shifting from a defined regional territory to a national role, may trigger a new LCA filing requirement. Minor account reassignments within the same work location typically don't require an amendment, but confirm the change with your employer's immigration counsel before relocating.
What happens to my H-1B status if I miss my sales quota and am put on a performance plan?
Your H-1B status remains valid as long as you're employed in the approved role and your employer continues to meet the LCA wage obligations. A performance improvement plan doesn't automatically affect your visa status. If your employer terminates your employment, you enter a 60-day grace period under USCIS rules to find a new sponsor, change status, or depart the country.
