H-1B1 Singapore Visa CAD Engineer Jobs
CAD Engineer roles qualify for H-1B1 Singapore visa sponsorship because they meet the specialty occupation standard, requiring at least a bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field. Singapore nationals skip the H-1B lottery entirely, and the 5,400-visa annual cap rarely fills, so your application goes straight to consulate processing with no USCIS petition required.

Align your credentials to U.S. specialty occupation standards
Your Singapore engineering degree satisfies the H-1B1 visa bachelor's requirement, but your employer must document that the CAD Engineer role itself requires a degree in a specific field. Pull the O*NET occupation profile for your job code to confirm the degree-field match before you apply.
Target manufacturers and defense contractors with CAD history
Aerospace, automotive, and defense firms in states like California, Texas, and Washington routinely hire CAD Engineers on specialty visas. Search DOL Labor Condition Application disclosure data by SOC code 17-3031 to identify employers who have filed for this occupation specifically.
Search for H-1B1 Singapore sponsorship jobs on Migrate Mate
Filter by H-1B1 Singapore eligibility on Migrate Mate to surface CAD Engineer roles at employers whose LCA filing history confirms they've sponsored specialty occupation positions before, cutting out employers unfamiliar with the process.
Ask employers about LCA filing before accepting an offer
Your employer must file a certified Labor Condition Application with DOL before your consulate appointment. Confirm upfront that their HR or legal team has done this for H-1B1 visa holders before, since the H-1B1 LCA process differs slightly from standard H-1B procedures.
Prepare a detailed duties letter tied to your degree field
Consular officers assess whether your CAD Engineer duties directly require your engineering specialization. A duties letter that maps each job function to a specific engineering discipline, co-signed by your hiring manager, reduces the risk of a 221(g) request at the interview.
Book your consulate appointment as soon as the LCA is certified
H-1B1 Singapore applications are processed at the U.S. Embassy in Singapore without a USCIS petition stage, so appointment availability is your main timeline constraint. Scheduling delays of several weeks are common, and your start date depends on when your stamp is issued.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does a CAD Engineer role qualify as a specialty occupation for the H-1B1 Singapore visa?
Yes. CAD Engineer positions qualify when the employer documents that the role requires at least a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, industrial design, or a closely related field. Roles that accept any bachelor's degree regardless of field can be challenged at the consulate, so the job description must specify the required discipline, not just a generic engineering background.
How does the H-1B1 Singapore visa compare to the H-1B for CAD Engineers?
The H-1B1 Singapore visa skips the H-1B lottery entirely and goes directly to consulate processing, so a qualified CAD Engineer can receive a visa stamp without waiting for an annual selection round. The trade-off is that H-1B1 status doesn't directly support a green card application, while H-1B status does. CAD Engineers pursuing permanent residence typically need to transition to H-1B or another immigrant-track status later.
How can I find CAD Engineer jobs with H-1B1 Singapore sponsorship?
Migrate Mate filters job listings by H-1B1 Singapore eligibility and shows employer LCA filing history by occupation code, so you can focus on companies that have already sponsored specialty occupation roles. This matters for CAD Engineer positions specifically because many employers are familiar with H-1B but haven't navigated the H-1B1 consular process, which has different documentation requirements.
What documents does my employer need to file for H-1B1 Singapore sponsorship?
Your employer must obtain a certified Labor Condition Application from DOL before your consulate appointment. The LCA must list a wage at or above the prevailing wage for a CAD Engineer in the work location, which you can verify using the OFLC Wage Search tool. The employer also provides a support letter detailing the job duties, your required degree field, and your start date.
Can I switch CAD Engineer employers while on H-1B1 Singapore status?
Yes, but each new employer must file a fresh LCA and you'll need a new H-1B1 visa stamp if your current stamp has expired, which means returning to the consulate in Singapore. There's no H-1B1 portability rule equivalent to H-1B portability under AC21, so you can't begin working for the new employer until their LCA is certified and your status is updated.
