H-1B1 Singapore Visa Engineering Manager Jobs
Engineering Manager roles qualify for H-1B1 Singapore visa sponsorship as specialty occupations requiring a bachelor's degree or higher in engineering or a related technical field. Singaporean nationals bypass the H-1B lottery entirely, with the 5,400-visa annual cap consistently leaving room for new applicants and consulate processing replacing the USCIS petition route.

DESCRIPTION
Do you have a passion for working in a role where your expertise in BIM, HVAC, plumbing design, and next-generation data center innovation converge into a single leadership opportunity? Have you ever envisioned shaping the future of BIM at a scale that spans the globe and redefines how data centers are designed and built? If these questions resonate with you, we invite you to explore this opportunity further.
Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a BIM Engineering Manager to lead the Americas Mechanical BIM design group, part of a global engineering team responsible for the design and continuous innovation of our rapidly expanding data center footprint. In this role, you will manage a team of BIM designers influencing all aspects of mechanical BIM design, coordination, and documentation — including HVAC, plumbing, and hydronic systems — across the Americas. You will work with internal and external teams to define, design, detail, and document the mechanical features our facilities require, coordinating system space requirements, supporting utilities, and equipment locations across all mechanical-related trades. You will review all models and drawings to ensure they meet applicable regional code requirements described in our design standards, and contribute your expertise to the continual improvement of our BIM quality and standard operating procedures.
As the team's subject matter expert, you will serve as the point of escalation for the team on technical BIM systems for mechanical, plumbing and fire protection. You will ensure that the team has the information and tools they need to design our data centers the way we expect them to, and that our operations teams are well equipped to operate and maintain them as needed to meet our goals. As part of this role, you will work with internal and external stakeholders — including design, construction, operations, vendors, and other service providers.
As part of the broader management team, you will work with organizational leadership to implement strategy by contributing to our Innovation and Strategic Roadmap, defining team goals, and executing the tactics that drive results. You will be responsible for staffing, schedule and budget management, model and drawing approvals, and developing repeatable BIM workflows. You will be part of a global team, and you will be an integral part of our work to change the world through technology — empowering your designers to do their best work and raising the bar on how we deliver mechanical BIM design at AWS.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Visa Sponsorship as an Engineering Manager
Verify your credentials match specialty occupation standards
Your engineering degree must align directly with the management role, not just general business. Consular officers assess whether your technical background justifies the "specialty occupation" classification, so a degree in electrical engineering supporting an engineering manager role is stronger than an unrelated field.
Target employers with active LCA filing histories
Search the OFLC Wage Search database for companies that have filed Labor Condition Applications for engineering management roles. Employers already familiar with H-1B1 Singapore processing move faster and are less likely to confuse the visa with the H-1B lottery process.
Search verified H-1B1 Singapore employer listings on Migrate Mate
Migrate Mate filters job listings by H-1B1 Singapore sponsorship history so you're not guessing which employers will file. That's especially useful for Engineering Manager roles, where sponsorship willingness varies more by company size and industry than job title alone.
Clarify the consulate-only process before accepting an offer
Unlike H-1B, H-1B1 Singapore sponsorship requires you to apply at the U.S. embassy in Singapore rather than adjusting status inside the U.S. Confirm with your prospective employer early that they understand this distinction and won't stall expecting a USCIS petition route.
Negotiate the LCA wage before your start date
Your employer must file a Labor Condition Application certifying your offered wage meets DOL prevailing wage standards for your engineering manager role and work location. Use the OFLC Wage Search to check the prevailing wage for your SOC code and region before you finalize your offer letter.
Document your team leadership scope in writing
Engineering Manager roles sometimes draw scrutiny over whether the position is truly a specialty occupation or primarily administrative. A detailed offer letter specifying technical oversight responsibilities, required engineering credentials, and direct involvement in systems or product architecture strengthens your consulate application significantly.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does an Engineering Manager role qualify as a specialty occupation for H-1B1 Singapore purposes?
Yes, if the role requires at least a bachelor's degree in engineering or a directly related technical field. Consular officers look for evidence that the management function is rooted in specialized engineering knowledge, not general administration. An offer letter that details technical responsibilities and degree requirements for the role supports this classification.
How does H-1B1 Singapore differ from H-1B for Engineering Manager positions?
H-1B1 Singapore skips the lottery entirely and processes at the U.S. embassy in Singapore rather than through USCIS. The annual cap is 5,400 visas, which has never been exhausted, so timing isn't the same competitive concern it is for H-1B. The trade-off is that H-1B1 doesn't allow dual intent, meaning you can't use it as a direct stepping stone to a green card.
Where can I find Engineering Manager jobs with H-1B1 Singapore visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate lists Engineering Manager roles filtered by employers with verified H-1B1 Singapore sponsorship history, which saves you from applying to companies unfamiliar with the visa category. Many employers list engineering management positions without specifying visa type, so filtering by sponsorship track record is more reliable than searching by job title alone.
Can my employer file the H-1B1 Singapore application if they've only done H-1B before?
Yes, but they'll need to understand the process differences. H-1B1 Singapore doesn't go through USCIS the same way H-1B does. Your employer files a Labor Condition Application with DOL, then you apply directly at the U.S. embassy in Singapore with that certified LCA. Employers experienced only with H-1B sometimes assume a USCIS petition is required, which it isn't.
What happens to my H-1B1 Singapore status if I'm promoted or change roles within the same company?
A significant change in job duties, title, or location may require your employer to file a new Labor Condition Application with DOL and notify USCIS. Moving from an individual contributor engineering role into an Engineering Manager position at the same company typically constitutes a material change, so confirm with your employer whether a new LCA is needed before the transition takes effect.
