H-1B1 Singapore Visa Senior Researcher Jobs
Senior Researcher roles qualify for H-1B1 Singapore visa sponsorship when the position requires a specialized degree in a relevant field. No lottery, no USCIS petition filing, and the 5,400-visa annual cap rarely fills, so Singaporean nationals can pursue U.S. research positions with a faster, more predictable timeline than most work visas allow.

About Generate Biomedicines
We are a clinical-stage generative biology company pioneering the AI revolution in drug design and development. We are advancing a new approach to drug creation—one grounded in the ability to design proteins with defined biological intent. By integrating machine learning with large-scale experimentation, this approach aims to reduce the uncertainty, time, and cost associated with developing protein-based medicines.
Founded in 2018, we are advancing a growing pipeline of clinical and preclinical programs across multiple disease areas and protein modalities. By unifying computational design and clinical development within a single operating model, we translate this approach into clinical-stage programs and are leading a shift from traditional drug discovery toward systematic drug generation.
At Generate:Biomedicines, we collaborate across disciplines in new ways to invent and innovate. We bring diverse perspectives to a shared goal of delivering better medicines to patients in need, faster, guided by our values and leadership behaviors.
Generate:Biomedicines is committed to equal employment opportunity regardless of race, color, ancestry, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, age, citizenship, marital status, disability, gender identity or Veteran status.

Verify your degree field matches the role
H-1B1 visa eligibility requires your degree to align directly with the Senior Researcher position, not just research broadly. A chemistry degree won't support a computational neuroscience role. Pull the O*NET profile for your target occupation to confirm the standard educational requirement before applying.
Target employers with existing H-1B1 filing history
Research institutions, biotech firms, and federal contractors that have sponsored H-1B1 Singapore visas before already understand the consular process. Use Migrate Mate to filter job listings by employers with verified H-1B1 LCA filing history, so you're not educating a hiring team from scratch.
Request the LCA before your visa appointment
Your employer must file and receive a certified Labor Condition Application from DOL before you can apply at the consulate. Confirm the LCA certification is complete and matches your job title, worksite, and prevailing wage before scheduling your appointment at the U.S. Embassy in Singapore.
Check prevailing wage tier for your specialty
Senior Researcher roles span multiple wage levels depending on specialization and institution type. Run the OFLC Wage Search using your specific Standard Occupational Classification code and worksite zip code to verify your offered wage meets DOL requirements before the LCA is submitted.
Prepare your credential documentation for specialty occupation
Consular officers assess specialty occupation on-the-spot without the USCIS petition process as a buffer. Bring your degree transcripts, any foreign credential evaluations, and a detailed employer letter explaining why the role requires your specific disciplinary training, not just a general research background.
Plan your initial visa duration and renewal cycle
H-1B1 Singapore visas are issued in one-year increments and must be renewed annually through the consulate. Align your renewal timeline with your research contract dates and confirm your employer will resubmit the LCA for each renewal period before signing a multi-year appointment.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Senior Researcher role qualify as a specialty occupation for the H-1B1 Singapore visa?
Yes, provided the position requires at least a bachelor's degree in a directly related field such as biology, chemistry, computer science, or another relevant discipline. Roles that accept any degree regardless of field, or that substitute years of experience for educational requirements without restriction, may not qualify. Your employer's LCA and supporting documentation must establish the specific degree requirement for your position.
How does the H-1B1 Singapore visa compare to the H-1B for Senior Researcher positions?
The H-1B visa1 Singapore visa has no lottery, no USCIS petition filing requirement, and a dedicated annual cap of 5,400 visas that rarely fills, making it significantly more accessible for Singaporean nationals than the H-1B. The trade-off is that H-1B1 visas are issued in one-year increments requiring annual consular renewal, whereas approved H-1B petitions can cover up to three years initially.
Where can I find Senior Researcher jobs that specifically offer H-1B1 Singapore visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate lets you search for Senior Researcher roles filtered by employers with verified H-1B1 LCA filing history, so you can identify institutions already familiar with the consular process. General job boards don't filter by visa type or filing history, which means you'd have to assess each employer's sponsorship experience individually before investing time in an application.
Can I work at multiple research sites on a single H-1B1 Singapore visa?
Each primary worksite must be covered by a separate LCA certified by DOL before you work there. If your Senior Researcher role involves field work, satellite labs, or affiliated institutions in different metropolitan areas, your employer needs to file additional LCAs for each location. Short-term placements at a client or partner site may qualify under a blanket LCA if the employer has one in place.
What happens to my H-1B1 status if my research grant ends before my visa expires?
H-1B1 status is tied to your employer and the specific position described in the LCA. If your funding ends and your employment terminates, your authorized status ends with it. Unlike H-1B, there's no statutory grace period codified for H-1B1, so you should immediately discuss a new employer filing or a change of status with your employer's immigration contact if your grant timeline is uncertain.
