We’re looking for an experienced Supplier Quality Engineer to join our team and help ensure the quality and reliability of externally sourced equipment and materials used in semiconductor manufacturing. In this role, you will partner closely with suppliers and internal manufacturing sites to assess performance, resolve quality issues, and support management activities. You’ll use data‑driven insights, structured problem‑solving methods, and established quality systems to drive continuous improvement across the supply base. This role offers the opportunity to collaborate multi-functionally, influence supplier outcomes, and make a measurable impact on product quality and manufacturing performance.
Responsibilities
- Review and analyze supplier quality benchmarks (yield, defect rates, OTD, PPM), identify trends, and drive continuous improvement with external equipment and material vendors.
- Lead and run supplier corrective action processes, including 8D investigations, root cause analysis, and verification of effective containment and long‑term corrective actions.
- Own supplier process updates, coordinating approval steps, risk assessments, and implementation verification across Micron sites.
- Apply and implement IQC, SPC, and FMEA methodologies to ensure incoming materials and supplier processes meet quality and regulatory requirements.
- Support quarterly supplier audits and onsite engagements, ensuring alignment to Micron quality standards and applicable government regulations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Materials Science, Quality, or a related technical field.
- 5+ years of experience in the semiconductor industry, supporting manufacturing, supplier quality, or process quality functions.
- 2+ years of experience working directly with external equipment and/or material vendors, including performance evaluations and issue resolution.
- Experience with 8D corrective actions, IQC, SPC, and FMEA, in a high‑volume manufacturing environment.
- Ability to travel approximately once per quarter to support supplier audits and cross‑site teamwork.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience overseeing supplier modifications, including PCNs, risk assessments, and implementation verification.
- Familiarity with semiconductor equipment qualification and supplier audit processes.
- Strong cross‑functional communication skills with experience coordinating across multiple manufacturing sites.

Verify your degree aligns with specialty occupation
H-1B1 visa requires a bachelor's degree in a directly related field. For Supplier Quality Engineer roles, degrees in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, or materials science satisfy this. A general management degree, even with years of quality experience, may not.
Target manufacturers with active LCA filing histories
Search DOL's OFLC Wage Search for certified LCAs under Standard Occupational Classification code 17-2112 to identify companies that have already sponsored quality engineers. These employers understand the H-1B1 process and won't need convincing that Singapore nationals are eligible.
Find H-1B1 sponsoring employers through Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to filter Supplier Quality Engineer roles by employers with verified H-1B visa1 and H-1B filing history. This filters out postings where sponsorship is a vague promise and surfaces companies whose DOL filings confirm they've done it before.
Negotiate LCA filing into your offer timeline
Your employer must file the LCA with DOL before your consulate appointment. DOL certifies most LCAs within seven business days, but build this into your start-date negotiation so the certification doesn't delay your visa stamping appointment.
Prepare your O*NET occupation evidence proactively
Consular officers assess whether your role meets specialty occupation criteria. Pull the O*NET profile for Supplier Quality Engineers showing the typical education requirements and bring it to your interview alongside your job description and degree transcripts.
Carry documentation covering supplier audits and corrective actions
Quality engineers often face questions about whether their role is sufficiently specialized. Bring project records showing you applied advanced engineering judgment, such as root cause analysis reports, supplier corrective action requests, or process capability studies, not just inspection checklists.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Supplier Quality Engineer role qualify as a specialty occupation for the H-1B1 Singapore visa?
Yes, provided the position requires at least a bachelor's degree in engineering or a closely related technical field and your employer structures the job description accordingly. Roles focused on statistical process control, supplier qualification, and corrective action systems routinely meet the specialty occupation standard. Generalist quality coordinator roles that accept any bachelor's degree carry more risk at the consulate.
How does the H-1B1 Singapore visa compare to H-1B for Supplier Quality Engineers?
The H-1B1 Singapore visa has no lottery and an annual cap of 5,400 that has never been reached, so you can apply any time of year with a job offer and a certified LCA. The H-1B requires USCIS petition approval and is subject to an oversubscribed lottery. For Singaporean nationals, the H-1B1 is a more predictable path to U.S. employment in quality engineering roles.
How do I find employers who will sponsor an H-1B1 Singapore visa for a quality engineering role?
Migrate Mate filters Supplier Quality Engineer job listings by employers with documented H-1B1 and H-1B filing history from DOL Labor Condition Application data. This means you're applying to companies that have already navigated visa sponsorship for technical roles, rather than starting the education process from scratch with each recruiter.
Can my H-1B1 Singapore visa be renewed if I stay with the same employer?
The H-1B1 is granted in one-year increments and can be renewed indefinitely as long as you maintain a qualifying job offer and your employer files a new LCA for each renewal period. There's no maximum number of renewals, but each renewal requires a fresh consulate appointment in Singapore rather than a USCIS extension filed from inside the U.S.
What documents should I bring to my H-1B1 consulate interview as a Supplier Quality Engineer?
Bring your certified LCA, a signed offer letter specifying your role and salary, academic transcripts and your engineering degree certificate, your DS-160 confirmation page, and supporting evidence that your position requires specialized engineering judgment. The O*NET occupation profile for quality engineers and samples of technical work product, such as corrective action reports or audit findings, can help if the officer questions the specialty occupation requirement.
