Frame your Singapore client portfolio strategically
TAM roles require demonstrated account ownership, not just support experience. Document specific client retention outcomes, escalation resolution records, and revenue expansion you drove directly. U.S. hiring managers evaluate these as specialty occupation evidence, not soft skills.
Target employers already filing Labor Condition Applications
Search Migrate Mate to identify companies with verified H-1B1 visa LCA filing history for Technical Account Manager roles. Employers who've filed before understand the DOL certification timeline and won't treat your visa as an obstacle during offer negotiations.
Confirm the role meets specialty occupation criteria
Look up the Technical Account Manager occupation on O*NET before applying. The role must require at least a bachelor's degree in a directly related field. If the job posting says 'degree preferred,' ask the recruiter to confirm it's a firm requirement before advancing.
Request LCA filing early in the offer process
Once you receive an offer, ask your employer to submit the Labor Condition Application to DOL immediately. DOL certifies LCAs within seven business days on average, and your consulate interview can't be scheduled until the certified LCA is in hand.
Prepare credentials for consular specialty occupation review
Gather your degree transcripts, a detailed letter from your employer describing the TAM role's technical requirements, and any professional certifications tied to enterprise software or cloud platforms. Consular officers assess these directly since there's no USCIS adjudication step for H-1B1 visa.
Understand the H-1B1 renewal timeline before accepting an offer
H-1B1 Singapore status is granted in one-year increments and doesn't allow dual intent. Plan your renewal filing with your employer at least 60 days before your status expires to avoid any gap in work authorization.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Technical Account Manager role qualify for H-1B1 Singapore sponsorship?
Yes, if the position requires at least a bachelor's degree in a directly related field such as computer science, information systems, or engineering. The key is that the degree requirement must be genuine and tied to the role's technical duties. Roles where any bachelor's degree satisfies the requirement, regardless of field, may not qualify as a specialty occupation under H-1B1 visa criteria.
How does the H-1B1 Singapore visa differ from H-1B for TAM roles?
The H-1B1 Singapore visa has no lottery and no USCIS petition filing requirement. You apply directly at the U.S. consulate once your employer completes the DOL Labor Condition Application. The annual cap of 5,400 for Singaporeans has never been exhausted, so timing isn't a constraint the way it is with H-1B visa's oversubscribed lottery system. The tradeoff is that H-1B1 doesn't allow dual intent toward permanent residence.
How do I find employers who will sponsor H-1B1 Singapore visas for Technical Account Manager positions?
Use Migrate Mate to search for Technical Account Manager roles filtered by employers with verified H-1B1 visa Labor Condition Application filing history. This removes the guesswork of cold-applying to companies unfamiliar with H-1B1 sponsorship and lets you focus on employers who've already navigated the DOL certification process for this visa type.
Can my employer file the H-1B1 LCA while I'm still completing the interview process?
No. The DOL Labor Condition Application requires a specific employee name, job title, worksite location, and offered wage. Your employer can only file after a formal offer is extended and accepted. DOL typically certifies LCAs within seven business days, so the wait after signing your offer is short, but the filing can't start before that point.
What happens to my H-1B1 status if my employer terminates my Technical Account Manager role?
H-1B1 Singapore status is employer-specific and tied to the certified LCA. If your employment ends, your authorized status ends with it. There's no formal grace period codified for H-1B1 the way there is for H-1B holders, so you'd need to either secure a new sponsoring employer quickly, change to another nonimmigrant status, or depart the U.S.
