H-1B1 Singapore Visa Senior Forward Deployed Engineer Jobs
Senior Forward Deployed Engineer jobs in the U.S. are a strong fit for H-1B1 Singapore visa sponsorship: the role's systems integration and customer-facing engineering work qualifies as a specialty occupation, and Singapore nationals skip the H-1B lottery entirely. The 5,400-visa annual cap rarely fills, so consulate appointments move faster than most engineers expect.

To stay at the cutting edge, we blend frontier research with real-world execution. Alongside our core product work, Cogent Research serves as our applied AI lab, providing the research horsepower needed to make truly agentic security workflows a reality.
Since coming out of stealth, Cogent has experienced rapid growth. We partner with Fortune 500 companies to secure some of the most complex production environments in the world.
We’re backed by Greylock and we’ve built a team with the best minds in applied AI. Our team is comprised of people from:
- Top universities like Stanford, Berkeley, Penn, Duke, Carnegie Mellon, Waterloo
- Unicorn, high-growth companies like Scale AI, Databricks, Stripe, Tesla, Coinbase
- World class cybersecurity experts from Wiz, Abnormal AI, Zscaler
- Preeminent research labs like Deepmind and SAIL
About the Role
As a Forward Deployed Agent Engineer at Cogent, you will design, build, and deploy mission-critical AI agents that operate in complex customer environments and drive measurable security outcomes. This is a highly cross-functional, forward-deployed role — you’ll work directly with customers to understand their needs, adapt our platform to their environment, and continuously iterate on solutions that scale to millions of real-world events.
You’ll own projects end-to-end: from initial implementation and data onboarding, to deploying in production, to integrating feedback into our core agent platform. Your work will directly shape how AI agents detect threats, triage incidents, and automate security workflows for some of the world’s most sophisticated organizations.
This role is ideal for engineers who thrive in high-impact environments, love solving hard technical problems, and want to see the tangible results of their work in the field.
What You’ll Do
Design & Deploy AI Agents — Build security-focused AI agents that can reason over large datasets, interact with security systems, and reliably handle complex real-world workflows.
* Own Implementations End-to-End — Lead technical delivery for new and existing customers, from data ingestion and transformation pipelines to configuration, workflow design, and feature extension.
* Integrate the Latest Models at Scale — Experiment with, evaluate, and integrate cutting-edge text, voice, and multi-modal models into production environments.
* Adapt to Diverse Environments — Work directly with customer security teams to integrate agents with their tools, processes, and data sources.
* Drive Platform Evolution — Identify cross-customer trends and translate field insights into platform improvements and new capabilities.
* Solve Complex Technical Problems* — Debug deep in the stack, investigate edge cases, and ensure our agents meet enterprise-grade reliability and performance standards.
About You
2+ years of professional software engineering experience, ideally in high-velocity or customer-facing environments.
* Proficiency in Python and TypeScript*, with strong skills in asynchronous programming and building robust data integrations.
* Strong debugging and systems thinking abilities; comfortable tracing issues across multiple layers of a stack.
* Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate between technical and non-technical contexts.
* Thrive in ambiguity, take ownership end-to-end, and prioritize customer outcomes over output.
Bonus Points For:
* Experience with multi-modal AI models, enterprise SaaS, security operations, or behavioral analytics.
* Familiarity with large-scale data ingestion, transformation pipelines, and real-time processing.

Verify your role qualifies as specialty occupation
Pull the O*NET profile for Forward Deployed Engineers and confirm your job duties map to a bachelor's-level engineering or computer science field. Mismatched job descriptions are the leading reason H-1B1 visa consular officers push back on specialty occupation claims.
Target employers already filing Labor Condition Applications
Search the OFLC Wage Search tool for LCA filings under SOC codes for software and systems engineers. Employers with recent LCA certifications in your occupation have already cleared the DOL wage compliance step, which shortens your path to an offer.
Search verified H-1B1 Singapore sponsoring employers on Migrate Mate
Migrate Mate filters job listings by H-1B1 Singapore visa sponsorship history, so you're applying to employers who've sponsored this visa category before rather than educating a recruiter about a visa they've never processed.
Prepare a systems integration portfolio before interviewing
Forward deployed roles require demonstrating hands-on deployment and customer environment experience. Compile documented case studies from your Singaporean engineering work that show scope, technical stack, and measurable outcomes before your first U.S. employer interview.
Confirm your employer will file the LCA before your consulate appointment
The LCA must be DOL-certified before you can apply for the H-1B1 visa at the consulate. Ask your employer to share the certified LCA document, not just a verbal confirmation, so your application packet is complete when you book your appointment.
Use the 10-day grace period strategically at role transitions
The H-1B1 visa doesn't carry H-1B portability protections, so if you switch employers, you need a new LCA and consulate stamp before starting. Plan any job change around the 10-day post-employment grace period to avoid a gap in authorized status.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Senior Forward Deployed Engineer role qualify for H-1B1 Singapore sponsorship?
Yes, provided the position requires at least a bachelor's degree in a directly related field such as computer science, software engineering, or systems engineering. Forward deployed roles that blend customer-facing consulting with deep technical implementation generally satisfy USCIS specialty occupation criteria, but your employer's job description must reflect that degree requirement explicitly, not just list it as preferred.
How does the H-1B1 Singapore visa compare to the H-1B for this role?
The H-1B1 Singapore visa skips the H-1B lottery entirely and is processed at the consulate rather than through USCIS, which removes months of petition processing time. The annual cap is 5,400 visas for Singapore nationals and has never been exhausted. The trade-off is that H-1B1 doesn't allow dual intent, so you can't pursue a green card concurrently while holding H-1B1 status the way H-1B holders often do.
What documents does a Singaporean engineer need for the H-1B1 consulate appointment?
You'll need your certified Labor Condition Application from DOL, a job offer letter specifying the specialty occupation and salary, academic credentials showing a relevant engineering or computer science degree, and your DS-160 confirmation. If your Singaporean degree is a three-year bachelor's, bring a credentials evaluation confirming U.S. equivalency, as consular officers occasionally raise questions about non-four-year programs.
How do I find U.S. employers who have sponsored H-1B1 Singapore visas for engineering roles?
Migrate Mate surfaces employers with verified H-1B1 Singapore sponsorship history filtered by occupation, so you're targeting companies that have already navigated this visa category rather than starting that conversation from scratch. Employers with existing H-1B1 processes have LCA templates and legal counsel in place, which significantly reduces the time between offer and consulate appointment.
Can I switch employers after receiving H-1B1 sponsorship in a Forward Deployed Engineer role?
Yes, but the process resets. The H-1B1 visa doesn't carry H-1B portability, so your new employer must file a fresh LCA with DOL and you'll need a new consulate appointment for a visa stamp before you can begin working. Plan the transition carefully around your current visa's expiration date and the 10-day grace period to avoid an unauthorized gap in status.
