Entry Level Hardware Engineer Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an entry level hardware engineer job?
Entry level hardware engineer roles go to candidates who can show hands-on work: PCB layouts, FPGA projects, embedded systems coursework, or an internship. Employers at this level care more about what you have built than how long you have been building. A portfolio that demonstrates signal integrity, schematic capture, or prototype testing gives you a concrete edge over candidates who list coursework alone.
Which companies hire entry level hardware engineers?
Companies hiring entry level hardware engineers right now include Google, Apple, and Amazon, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Both large electronics manufacturers and smaller embedded systems startups post regularly at this level, so candidates should look across company sizes and not limit searches to major brands.
Are there remote entry level hardware engineer jobs?
Yes, though hardware roles skew more on-site than software because prototyping and lab access often require physical presence. About 13% of entry level hardware engineer openings are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, concentrated in roles where design, simulation, and documentation work can be completed off-site. Checking filters for hybrid postings will surface the most flexibility at this stage.
Are these new grad hardware engineer jobs?
Yes. These listings include new grad, recent graduate, and junior hardware engineer roles. A posting is new-grad friendly when it welcomes 0 to 2 years of experience, counts internships or co-op rotations toward that requirement, or accepts a strong portfolio in place of professional tenure. Searching for "new grad" alongside "entry level" will surface postings written specifically for candidates finishing a degree or just starting out.
Which industries hire the most entry level hardware engineers?
Entry Level hardware engineer roles concentrate in Technology & Software, Electronics & Hardware, and Artificial Intelligence, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. These sectors drive hiring at this level because they invest heavily in new product development and rely on junior engineers to support prototyping, testing, and component evaluation cycles that keep pipelines moving.
